Terminal output
When i want to start Wacraft III or Frozen Throne I get this Fatal Error:
"This application has encountered a critical error:

The memory could not be 'read'."
It must be a Problem with wine because it's working good till version 0.9.48.
It's not working with wine versions 0.9.49 - .52.
I have an Intel X31000 (GMA965) integrated graphic card and Ubuntu 7.10 32-Bit
installed (but I get the same error also with Arch Linux).
I've attached what the terminal says.
Also Steam crashes when I want to install a game (the steam GUI works fine) -
but I don't tested if steam works with 0.9.48, but maybe it's the same problem.

Window asking you to recreate the deleted folder
I had been testing an VB6 application under Wine, which did not work until I
installed dcom98 with "winetricks".
I was willing to report the trace of the program without dcom98 installed, so I
figured out that deleting "~/.wine" could be a good idea to start over.
So I deleted it and then ran "wineconfig" to configure drive paths again, a
message box appeared (screenshot attached) telling me that it will create
"~/.wine" again, I cliked "Ok" ("Aceptar") and then I saw an output in the
console about several errors.
I'm going to attach the trace in next post.

Summary: no homam with activated pixel shader on intel graphics
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.52.
Platform: PC-x86-64

ReportedBy: j.schauer(a)email.de
I tried heroes of might and magic V tribes of the east on two intel graphics
notebooks one has gma915 graphics and the other the new intel gm965 (x3000)
card.
Both use the "intel" driver in xorg.
I copied the dx9 dll and started the game but observed that on both laptops the
game only came to the main menu with deactivated hw accelerated pixel shader in
winecfg but then of course is too slow to play.
If I have pixelshader activated it will freeze up my whole computer after the
game starts up.
Since this game is rated silver it probably has to do with me using an intel
card while others have nvidia?
This bug was observed in wine 0.9.46 and 0.9.52

Moving the mouse around doesn't turn the character, however, you are able to
navigate menus with it. This makes Far Cry unplayable.

Summary: City of Heroes runs very slowly when in-game "Contacts"

I have been trying to play City of Heroes using Wine on Ubuntu. It's mostly
working pretty good, but I seem to be consistently getting very bad behavior
from the game when I try to open the contacts list/window. Sometimes, when I'm
lucky, the game just runs very slowly, rendering about 1 frame every 3-5
seconds, until I close the contacts list. Other times, the video card graphics
get corrupted so badly that I have to power off the computer and power it back
on to be able to use the computer again.
