Contains both wine's debug report and game's log.
While game is starting, desktop resolution changes, black window appears, and
soon afterwards game crashes, desktop resolution restores and I'm returned to
desktop.
I guess it could be a bug in wine's direct3d implementation. I've attached
wine's debug output, and game's log.
Wine version used: wine-0.9.58
Distribution: Ubuntu 8.04 beta (from 2008-04-07)
Architecture: amd64
non-free kernel modules: fglrx

That is incorrect.
DGA shared memory video was deprecated because it required superuser privileges
(essentially it mapped the video memory into application memory space, so that
a game could draw stuff at the fastest possible speed, provided that the window
was completely uncovered).
In essence, it was useless for security reasons.
DGA mouse grab has never been deprecated, and is still fully supported in most
xorg input modules (evdev did not support it until recently though).
I don't see any reason that DGA mouse grab would ever be deprecated without a
better replacement, and as long as it does work we should use it (it is a
queryable extension after all).

Still crashes with wine-1.1.6-204-ge994515. But, even after the crash game is
properly installed and fully playable (got to the tutorial, but I don't like
games like this so I've just checked if it works).

Hello,
I don't know if this is supposed to look like this:
http://dp0154.debowypark.waw.pl/nature.jpg
But looks like this for me in wine-1.1.6-204-ge994515. Is this fixed?

Summary: Sound overload(?) when opening character inventory.
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.58.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: m.cornea.h(a)gmail.com

Startup works fine. Everything works except for opening the inventory of a
specific character. The game turns into something slightly less than a Zombie
process at that moment, requiring an "End Process" from the System Monitor.
Possibly a sound card overload? Happens with all drivers.

Summary: sound broken in some programs when OSS4 is used
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.3
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-dsound
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: notasas(a)yahoo.com
There is a regression in 1.1.3 (and up to 1.1.6, 1.1.2 works fine) where some
programs don't have sound when OSS4 drivers are used with X-fi card. The
example programs are Starcraft, Diablo II (yes I use wine for gaming). Some
games are not affected by this bug (World of Warcraft).
I've determined the commit responsible for this:
commit dc224421416bd2616bfd52431388a6f9630bc860
Date: Mon Aug 18 21:00:26 2008 +0200
dsound: Tune some parameters to make pulseaudio work.
I've reverted this commit on my copy of wine and it works fine for a while now.
OSS4 is the only choice to have sound for some people, so it would be nice if
this got fixed.

hi, I experience the same error on the following msi package:
http://storefront.steampowered.com/download/SteamInstall.msi
I am on a fairly new opensuse 11 install with wine 1.1.6 package from the
opensuse build service.
I just installed wine and first ran "wine iexplore http://google.com" to have
the gecko engine installed for steam.
then I run "wine start SteamInstall.msi" which yields:
fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000500
fixme:msi:MSI_OpenDatabaseW open failed r = 8003001e for
L"C:\\windows\\temp\\msi1da.tmp"
I see some window very briefly popup and disappear again.
if I run "wine msiexec /i SteamInstall.msi" I just get the second fixme and no
window popup
I don't know if this may be related, but I know, on windows, if you start an
MSI install from a subst'ed drive (for example, I have T: mapped to C:\temp),
it will fail too with no clear reason..

Terminal output after crash
Bible Works crashes. This didn't used to happen with previous versions of
Wine.
It seems to happen when it's trying to handle lots of information - selecting
lots of text, or the program copies a long list of verses to another window.
Terminal output attached.
