Summary: Pressing CTRL is unrecognized in Wine when "Show

>From Launchpad: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine/+bug/231527
When the "Show position of pointer when the Control key is pressed" Wine
doesn't respond to presses of the CTRL key most of the time. The little
notifier that circles the mouse shows up, but the problem will not respond as
it should. I would know, because I wrote the program.
Ubuntu version 8.04 (though I noticed the problem since as far back as I've
been using Ubuntu, which is 7.04), and most every Wine version, including the
newest one on Wine's website which is wine-1.0-rc1.
The fix I've found is to turn off the feature (in System --> Preferences -->
Mouse) under "Locate Pointer" and it will work as expected, but with that
feature on it will not.

Summary: Wine causes process hang in kernel when running
applications from FAT partition
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.39.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-kernel
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: krzysiek-bugs.winehq.org(a)lichota.net
Distro: Kubuntu Dapper 6.06
Wine: 0.9.9-0ubuntu2 (tested also with 0.9.39 from winehq.org)
Kernel: 2.6.15-29-386 (2.6.15-29.58)
This is kernel bug, but affects only wine, so workaround in wine is easier.
When .exe is run from FAT partition, wine process gets stuck in kernel in "D"
state and cannot be killed.
I have straced the process and it appears it is stuck in:
ioctl(9, TUNIOCGETINFO or VFAT_IOCTL_READDIR_BOTH
This way user can prevent unmounting FAT partition by running wine on FAT
partition.
To reproduce:
1. Mount any FAT volume (for example USB pendrive)
2. Copy some file.exe file to it.
3. Run: wine /media/mydisk/file.exe
4. Wine hangs and cannot be killed.
Possible workaround is to recompile wine with "#define VFAT_IOCTL_READDIR_BOTH"
in dlls/ntdll/directory.c commented out.
I have checked that it works.

Summary: Excel 2007 Crashes immediately on start up.
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.61.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P1
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: william_a_hood(a)comcast.net
This was present in 0.9.60 and in the current 0.9.61. 0.9.59 did not have this
problem, and my current work-around is to stick with 0.9.59.
Almost immediately after opening Excel 2007, it crashes and pops up the windows
dialog asking me if I want to debug. When I reopen it, it crashes again and
asks if I want to restart Excel in safe mode. Safe mode does not work either.
FYI: I followed these steps to get Office 2007 installed:

Summary: Cluster size not supported for large NFS mounts?
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.54.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: d.austin(a)computer.org
I get the error message "The cluster size in this system is not supported."
when trying to install fonts (arial.exe) which has worked for me before.
On a hunch, I moved my .wine directory out of my NFS-mounted
home directory and onto a local disk. Font installation worked
fine then.
The obvious thing that occurs to me is that the size of the disk
is too large (I have a 1.2TB file server):
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
server:/home 1220955136 1194313600 26641536 98% /home
I have 0.9.54 available as source and am happy to try patches against
that, but cannot use a more recent version due to the annoying VNC bug.
Regards,
David

screenshot, bad state
Seems like a z-order issue in rendering. In short, on the campaign map, where
land should be rendered on top of the sea background, the sea is rendered
instead. Fiddling around with in-game graphics settings or
OffscreenRenderingMode doesn't change anything.
The demo doesn't have campaign mode, so no free download. Appdb comments seem
to confirm the bug.
