You may want to re-open this bug, I'm getting the same problem with wine 0.9.60
through to 1.0 itself, the minimap is showing only points of interest, nothing
else but black. I'm also running ubuntu 8.04, and an nvidia 8800 video card.

Hi Austin,
see this bug:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10229
Both are somehow connected. Means the connecting problem also appears when not
hosting a dedicated server. Also it's dependent on "intercommunication" between
windows and wine. For example when hosting a non-dedicated server in wine,
another SS client running on wine (and on a remote system) can join the game.
A windows client is unable to do so.
So this is not fixed...
Greets,
Tobias

Created an attachment (id=14177)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14177)
ALEPH500 log with imagelist and rebar traces
Problem still exists in 1.0. I have attached a log for the imagelist and rebar
channels since they both emit one error message.

I've written some tests to see what is going on. Now it's up to making
these tests pass under Wine.

This is still occuring in Wine 1.0 release. Video was last known to be visible
in Wine 0.9.2, even though it was very slow.

I was able to install and run Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego usine Wine
1.0
I copied the contents of the cd-rom into a directory, created a virtual drive,
and ran the installer off the drive
The installation went OK
The game started OK, but there was no cursor. This was remedied when I hit the
ALT key. The cursor appeared along with a little icon in the top left corner.
The game now runs perfectly.

Tried 'wine-snapshot-1.0.20080617-1.1.i586.rpm' on SUSE 10.3
Result: success (without parameter "-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true")!
--- Comment #20 from James Hawkins <truiken(a)gmail.com> 2008-06-18 17:36:35 ---
Then it's fixed, not worksforme.
