Summary: The Format function of Visual Basic 6 does not work

Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.49.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P1
Component: wine-ole
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: pabl0ski(a)hotmail.com
The Format function (it gives format to numbers/strings/...) of Visual Basic 6
does not work properly under wine. If a number is negative, it is converted to
a positive number.
There is a similar function called FormatNumber (only for numbers) and it works
correctly.

Log from trying to install package
This bug stops all installations of packages using Windows Installer 3.1 in the
update.exe format. Unfortunately, more and more packages are coming this way.
The presentation to the end user is a windows dialog box with the message,
"Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the
Cryptographic service is running on this computer."
However, the log implies more than just that. See attached.

Summary: LookupAccountNameA returns Domain Size that is one byte
too big
Product: Wine

Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-advapi32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: lehmannd(a)in.tum.de
When calling LookupAccountNameA in Windows, cbReferencedDomainName is set to
the number of characters in the string (e.g. for "DOMAIN" windows returns 6).
In my tests Wine always returned the string "DOMAIN" and the length 7.
I think the bug is in there because LookupAccountNameW is called internally but
that function is supposed to return the number of characters plus 1.
I confirmed the behaviour in Vista and Windows 2000.
I will try to fix it myself.

winebrowser: Convert to Unicode.
caused a regression in wine, causing that winebrowser gets wrong URL and cannot
load the requested page. The URL is displayed as a series of question marks.
The operating system normally uses a czech locale (cs_CZ.ISO-8859-2). The URLs
which are attempted to access don't contain any special characters, which would
require unicode to be used.
To reproduce, download the following freely available program
http://www.3amsystems.com/products/CPT-Master.exe ,
run it in wine and select "Buy now" from the welcome screen. The browser will
open, but its URL will be wrong. The same happens when trying to buy a game
from Steam.
Trying to use LC_ALL=cs_CZ.UTF-8 and running the program causes that there are
chinese characters in the URL, which is also totally wrong :-).
It used to work perfectly in wine 0.9.57 (both cases mentioned).

Screenshot showing the problem.
Hello, I have found an impressive improvement of the performance when running
Ragnarok Online (RO) on the latest RC Wine, but I have found an error that I
haven't seen before.
I tested RO with Ubuntu Hardy Heron and Wine 1.0rc5 and I saw a little problem
with the transparencies on certain text boxes; I attached an screen-shot
showing the problem and I hope that this is something that could be fixed
easily before the release of Wine 1.0.
Thank you so much for your efforts and congratulations for this great project
that is still alive even with the past of the years.
Best regards.
Sincerely: Alexandro Ayub F.

With yesterday's git, Magic III installs fine in an empty .wine directory,

Summary: Vanguard trees/leaves in face (billboard X axis not
locked?)
Product: Wine
Version: CVS/GIT
Platform: PC
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: nospam(a)thenerdshow.com
When walking around in Vanguard SoH, the trees bend down toward you as you
approach and the leaves get stuck in your face, obscuring your view. This tends
to discourage exploration of and participation in heavily treed areas. Turning
down tree detail limits the issue to some extent, but it is still there. What
it looks like is some sort of billboarding glitch where the rotation axis is
either substituted or not being locked properly.
Todo: If I get time during my busy schedule, I may attempt to write a simple
test case for Windows based on the NeHe tutorials and trace it. If you have
more time/knowledge and can duplicate the problem, feel free. It does seem like
it might be a simple typo, but where?
