Summary: Wine memory issues and related crashes
Product: Wine

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tom.weingarten(a)gmail.com
When I open any application (even regedit, winecfg, etc) in wine 1.0.0 or 1.1.4
it uses more than 3 gigs of virtual memory.
When I use wine to play Warcraft 3, the game runs fine for a while, and then
will randomly freeze or crash giving an error message. Either GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY
or "Not Enough Memory", seemingly at random. This is preceded by a huge number
of sound errors:
err:wave:wodUpdatePlayedTotal ioctl(/dev/dsp, SNDCTL_DSP_GETOSPACE) failed
(Input/output error)
I've attached the results of cat /proc/PID/maps. I'm running Ubuntu 64bit
Intrepid Ibex, kernel 2.6.27-3, with 6 gigs of RAM.
I've searched google for hours and haven't been able to find anything useful.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading!

FEAR output
When I was trying to launch FEAR: Perseus Mandate demo, everything went ok,
until I've reached the game itself.
First of all - game wasn't starting at all, complaining about glsl bugs (it was
just crashing). I've enabled the DX8 Shader option - forces to use DirectX 8
shaders. Problem went away. Game loads, can see the graphics without any single
glitch, but when you stand up, the game crashes.
I can't reproduce problem with glsl, because even when I've enabled DX9
shaders, it still runs.
The output seems to be related to mp3 decoding
(wine/dlls/winemp3.acm/layer3.c). It's VERY strange, because it contains
non-ascii characters. The output looks like this on terminal and when I pipe it
to the file.
I've grepped out the lines containing "glsl" keyword (because the output was
~2mb and it contained only GL_INVALID_OPERATION statements).
Disabling PulseAudio didn't help. The game seems to be crashing wine, I've had
"Segmentation fault" error once.
Cheers,
Tomasz Salacinski

Summary: uTorrent should show up in Gnome's "Open With" list for
.torrent files
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc3
Platform: PC
URL: http://download.utorrent.com/1.7.7/utorrent.exe
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: madewokherd(a)gmail.com
On Windows XP, if uTorrent is installed, right-clicking on a .torrent file and
selecting Open With creates a dialog that lists uTorrent under "Recommended
Applications".
The GNOME desktop environment has a similar Open With function supported by the
freedesktop mime database and desktop entries; Wine should convert the
information that Windows uses for its own Open With dialog to the freedesktop
format so that GNOME can use it.

Summary: [S.T.A.L.K.E.R] Bug with -dsound (blocking device?)
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.6.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-dsound
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ggrabler(a)gmail.com
I'm experiencing problems with patch 1.0006 and the -dsound option.
Following strange thing occurs:
-> I'm using kde4
-> Wine is configured to use ALSA
-> esound (esd) disabled
-> starting stalker with -dsound option
-> First movie plays sound
-> 2nd movie plays no sound
-> no sound in the menu
-> adding -nointro
-> sound in the menu
-> when starting a new game, the sound seems to "lock up", not continueing
playing / starting to loop the past 1-2 secs
-> I'm getting the following error (after the sound locked up):
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x1ad3f60 "?" wait timed out in
thread 001b, blocked by 0009, retrying (60 sec)
Seems as if my output device got blocked - allthough, it's playing the OLD
sound (of the menu) and blocks the device with this.
Some time later, the sound stops, and another few secs later the error above
occurs.

Summary: window focus error on applications written by Delphi
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: comdlg32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: naclx(a)vip.sina.com
When Delphi controls call GetOpenFileName() in comdlg32.dll, the member
"hwndOwner" in the paramter "ofn" is specified to point to the handle of the
window on the toolbar, not the one of the main window as usual.
Therefore, there will be two abnormal phenomena:
1. If choose the "Allow the window manager to control the windows" option in
winecfg, foreground windows in some applications written by Delphi will be
hidden behind the background ones.
2. If not choose the "Allow the window manager to control the windows" option,
no application windows will be shown on the toolbar.
