Summary: Regression in using external gdiplus from Fractal Mapper
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0.0
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: goeran(a)uddeborg.se
The program Fractal Mapper 8.0
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=10813) no longer
works with wine 1.0, while it did with 0.9.52. This program uses parts of
gdiplus which is not implemented yet. Running without a native gdiplus.dll
does not work at all. With a native gdiplus.dll it worked fine with 0.9.52,
after some workarounds with the font registry as described in the AppDB entry.
With 1.0 however, as soon as one tries to enter a text string one gets an error
window:
Access violation at address 70D375A4 in module 'gdiplus.dll'. Read of address
00000048.
The problem can be reproduced also with the free trial version of the program:

Summary: Chessbase Fritz 10 locks up Ubuntu 8.04 when accessing
menus in app
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.3
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jorgevan007(a)hotmail.com
I installed fritz 10 and 11 in Ubuntu Hardy 8.04. My wine version at the moment
of test was 1.13. The problem is that the application launches correctly (in
both versions of the software) you can even play with the default settings the
program loads upon being launched. As soon as the user tries to access any of
the menus in the application, (to choose a different type of game for example
or change the software preferences) Fritz 10 and 11 stop responding, displays
the error message i attached in the image which comes out of a pop up window
and also freezes ubuntu (as in it locks up the entire ubuntu system) . The only
thing it lets me do is a CTRL-ALT-Backspace, which logs me off. When i log back
in, everything gets reset.

File a new bug, this one is fixed. A new regression test would be useful.

as seen on this image
http://www.linuxac.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=4082&stc=1&d=12193…
and others here http://www.linuxac.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13691
it appears that in wine-1
I only see the second problem i.e. it is too far away with a white space
between them!
I tried to trace the problem it's here dlls/gdi32/font.c
