This is what make it feel frustrating. I tried everything possible..
I'm running the pre-compiled "wine-kane-1.1.33-2.x86_64" that you provided on a
clean Fedora 12 install (no wine installed before). The other player was a
Linux client with the same rpm but on a Suse box. He did the same as me on
everything below.
How I did it:
1) Install wine-kane-1.1.33-2.x86_64 bit
2) Install Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars Kane version
3) Upgrade the game using the patch to 1.09 (not related to the problem)
4) Copy the nodvdfixeddll to run without cd (not related to the problem)
5) Run Hamachi's "tuncfg" on terminal (it prepares the tunneling)
6) Start & Login on Hamachi and make sure I'm online on the network and that
other user can ping me and vice-versa
7) Open the game, change IP to hamachi's and go to Network
Here I can't see him and he can't see me.
So I close the game and go to terminal and try:
8) Route add -host 255.255.255.255 dev ham0
9) Start the game again and same problem
The other route experiments were probably just shots in the dark (and also made
my IP repeat, so it probably made it worse).
Just this one above that I heard that is necessary according to that "CC3 Red

My route table after adding ham0 host:

Hmm, did you compile the patches yourself or use the pre-compiled version? If
you compiled them yourself then after you've compiled and installed (by running
"sudo make install") you'll want to open a new terminal and make sure the
command "which wine" returns /usr/local/bin/wine. It's also good to run
"wineserver -k" after you compile your own wine, otherwise you might continue
to use the old wine version. At this point I've done a rather significant
amount of testing, so I'm pretty surprised to hear that you're having trouble.

One of the patch sets uses the routing table to determine the IPs. This patch
set is the simplest piece of the puzzle, so it's the next thing I will try to
get included in the mainline. I thought I coded it to use each IP only once,
so I will have to look into the problem you are experiencing. Could you give
me an example of what your routing table looked like when you saw this issue?

Log of crash
Upon launching L4D 2, you get to watch the intro videos. Then the game crashes.
Wine says "The program left4dead2.exe has encountered a serious problem and
needs to close."
Steam says "Incomplete installation of Left 4 Dead 2 Demo (2)"

When trying to start the Mikroelektronika mikroC IDE (either the demo or the
full version) it doesn't start. In the terminal, I get "Unhandled exception".
The terminal output is attached. Tested on ubuntu 8.10.

I realize this must have been difficult to test without being able to install
it ;-) I just sent a patch which fixes bug 12014, and with it I was able to
start Ability Office 4 just fine. (You'll need to run 'winetricks vcrun6' in
order to install it, as it depends on mfc42 and msvcp60.) I'll likely close
this once bug 12014 is fixed.

Console output from program run
Program loads splash screen. Brings up Error: "Exception EExternalException in
module KERNEL32.dll at 000A3458. External Exception C0000025"
Closes without getting to main program screen.
