I have managed to get battle net to work for starcraft. I did this by
installing window fonts on Linux. Battle net works now even though the
background is black and text can be a hard to read when the text over laps.
This is not a perfect fix but you can do battle net.
The link for installing the fonts is

same as #111
I installed the fonts in a different way though:
go to a windows machine and copy the folder c:/windows/fonts.
paste it in your linux folder and simply use the font installer that comes with
your distro.
for Slackware 12.2 -> go to Control Center > System Administration > Font
Installer... click in administrator mode and enter your root password.

How does it behave under windows in 24/32bit depth?

Still does not work. Retested under wine-1.1.35-364-g9dc584d, but does not run.
Just says "...Pixel Shader 2.0 (or higher)..."

Still not fixed in wine-1.1.35-364-g9dc584d. Only way to work around the black
screen on startup, is to disable audio in winecfg.

Verified that this bug still exists with 1.1.35, and that changing the X
default depth to 16 bpp does fix the problem.

Summary: Sparkle effect scaled incorrectly to be huge (World of
Warcraft)
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P3
Component: -unknown

ReportedBy: joshorjeff(a)gmail.com

Large Sparkles
The 'sparkle' effect for lootable objects is often scaled wrongly so that it is
far too big for the object it is highlighting- eg. small plant with sparkle
effect the size of a tree.
This affects both -d3d and -opengl modes. Many objects have the sparkles
correctly scaled, but specific things are consistently wrong. For example
certain herbs. The objects affected seem to be completely consistent: if an
object has correct sparkles it always will have correct sparkles, and if it has
a massive cloud of sparkles, it always will have that (very annoying!).
The screenshot shows some small plants in the Night Elf starting area that do
this so you can see what I mean. It is very much more obvious when actually
playing the game (its hard to screenshot something that is constantly flashing
and changing), but you can at least see in the screenshot the height of the
sparkles, and the size they get to.
The same thing happens on certain gathering quests, making them ridiculously
easy because the sparkles are visible over the top of rocks, hills etc. due to
being so massive.
This happens using 1.1.30 and all previous versions for some months (over a
year maybe of previous versions).
