It's been well over 12 months since the last comment, and still no progress on
this bug? Running Wine 1.3.9 on Arch, TomTom HOME 2.8.0.2146. Still no device
detected.

yes, i agree, it solved for now ALL problems with mouse in games; no overriding
and stuff anymore. It could be added at least as compilation option. Even now,
when you apply the patch, it compiles only if you have xi2 available, otherwise
you get normal wine. So new option --with-xinput2-experimental passed to
configure could be done and the patch applied like that.

I understand that the patch isn't in main Wine because it's still a bit of a
hack and can cause problems with some applications, with multiple programs and
so on.
But would it be possible to get it in there as some kind of an optional per-exe
regedit override? Similar to the MouseWarpOverride one.
After all this effects a fairly large number of apps and users. Quite a few
games would be platinum with it. It's also been a bug since 2006 so I don't
really see a solution anytime soon (although we didn't have Xinput2 before).
An optional slightly hacky fix that solves %95 of the problems is better than
no solution that solves nothing.
Or are we likely to see a fix soonish now XInput2 is around?

James, you can find older versions of WASTE on SF downloads page :)
I tested several apps under Wine 1.3.10.
Waste versions 1.3c, 1.4 alpha 1, alpha 2 work OK.
eMulePlus v1.2e works OK also (fills logging listbox and tracks its bottom).
Arindal (after 80 megs of updates) couldn't connect to its server (for unknown
reason) so was skipped.
Thus I think the original bug is fixed (esp. per comment 20 by Smith Dylan).
Well, eMule really does not repaint its scrollbars for the first time -- you
need to resize the app or to switch between it and another app forth and back.
After that scrollbar is painted OK.
That should be different bugreport, IMHO.
Consider closing this one, please.

Screenshot of error message when using GNOME menu
Fedora 14 x86_64 with all available updates as of this bugzilla.
When running the Install/Uninstall control panel applet from GNOME menu
(Applications->Wine->Wine Software Uninstaller) I get a "Program Error" (see
screenshot attachement).
When running the same command from a bash shell ($wine control appwiz.cpl), I
get an exception:

(thread 0009), starting debugger...
I will attach the entire report.
When running just the Control Panel from the command line, I can open the
Install/Uninstall control panel applet.
I have tried this with a clean wine setup (i.e. rm -rf ~/.wine).
