Summary: Background music (MIDI) doesn't always play in Pikachu
Volleyball 1.2
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.38
Platform: x86-64
URL: http://games.hotut.com/post/pikachu-volleyball/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: RandomAccountName(a)mail.com
While version 1.0 of this game has working BGM in Wine now, version 1.2 still
has an issue. Sometimes, seemingly at random, the background music doesn't
play. Other times, it works just fine. Strangely, when it doesn't play,
clicking the "framerate" option on the menu bar can make it start playing.
Whether this works or not also seems to be random, but clicking it repeatedly
almost always works eventually.
Wine outputs a lot of of the fixmes seen repeatedly in the terminal output
whether the music plays or not. This particular log is from current git after
starting a match, finding that the music wasn't playing, and then clicking
"framerate" several times until it started playing.

terminal output (with gst plugins installed)
Chaser crashes before the game reaches the main menu. The crash is reproducible
only when Wine was compiled with gstreamer support.
I've tried two scenarios (both resulted the same crash but with different
output):
1) no gstreamer plugins are installed: the game crashes right after startup
since no appropriate codecs installed to play the intro videos.
2) the necessary gstreamer plugins are installed (the 'ugly' and the 'ffmpeg'
ones): the intro videos are playing fine and the game crashes after the last
video.
Workaround: disable the winegstreamer.dll in winecfg's libraries tab.
The issue is still present with the current git (wine-1.3.7-207-gb6a1951).
Link to the demo added to URL (147 MB download size).

Summary: graphical glitches drawing gun in Battlefield 2 Bad

graphical glitches drawing the gun
When BFBC2 first loads a level, or when it moves to another sublevel within a
level, it usually starts to draw random polygons (or nothing at all) instead of
the gun that the player is holding. The polygons are not necessarily related to
the position of the gun. See attached image for an example.
Changing the graphics resolution (from the options menu while in-game) fixes
the glitches until the next level or sublevel loads.
It does this with both the native and built-in DirectX drivers and with both
the nvidia 260.19.21 and 260.19.26 drivers (nvidia 8600M GT graphics card).
I posted some debug output at http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22617 (the
attachment is http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=31765) in case it helps.

Normal graphics mode (the other two options are low and very low) just shows
black (although the UI does appear). Apparently it uses deferred rendering
which wine doesn't support? Cedega uses swiftshader which the developers claim
does work.

Summary: application Get My Ancestors won't install with 1.3.7,

Text showing on xterm that started Wine with the installer.
Installation of application Get My Ancestors fails with Wine 1.3.7, while it
was platinum with earlier versions of Wine. The application is downloadable.
After clicking through nearly all of the installation dialogs, the panel that
says "Installing" and "Please wait while GetMyAncestors is being installed."
appears. The progress bar shows a very small sliver finished, but the text box
that usually shows what the installation is doing is blank. Below that text
box, the panel shows the notation "Nullsoft Install System v2.44" in case that
might help.
Normally, including with Wine 1.3.6, the installer takes about 5-10 seconds to
finish successfully. With Wine 1.3.7, the installation panel never shows
anything other than the above-described content. According to top, process
called Setup_GetMyAnce... goes 100% CPU bound, more system time than user time.
I let it go past 5 CPU minutes while entering this report.
I tried this three separate times, twice creating a brand new prefix area, and
once using an existing prefix area. I'll attach the text on the xterm that
started Wine. The line starting with "XIO" and the line immediately after it
do not appear until I forcibly destroy the installer window. More polite
attempts to kill the installer have no effect. When starting the installer in
an existing prefix area, only the "fixme:shell:SHAutoComplete stub" line shows
until the XIO line(s) after I destroy the installer window.

--- Comment #429 from Brian Vuyk <brian(a)brianvuyk.com> 2010-12-10 11:15:18 CST ---
I applied the patch in #428 to a git checkout, and it applied cleanly (albeit
with some fuzz on a few hunks).
It seems to work fine in my usage when using a single monitor. However, I am
running a dual monitor setup with Wine running in a 1920x1080 virtual desktop
in my left monitor. I have 'Allow DirectX apps to stop the mouse leaving their
window' checked in winecfg.
In the game Mount & Blade: Warband, as I turn my character, the mouse tends to
exit the virtual desktop area into the right monitor. While in the right
monitor, relative mouse motions are still read correctly in-game. However, if I
happen to click on anything while the mouse is outside of the game window, the
game loses focus.
