I took freely available crossover-games sources and compared ole32 sources with plain Wine sources. If the obtained patch is applied to Wine-1.1.40 or the latest git, equations can be open (although in a separate window!) and inserted back into a document. This got the game working well enough to let me get bitten by the already known bugs. 2) Typing wine "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri\terran.exe" in a shell. This causes the screen to change mode, and then change back.
