Summary: Missing 'msvcirt' from Component list
Product: WineHQ Bugzilla
Version: 3.0.2
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: bugzilla-unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dasnyderx(a)yahoo.com
I filed the bug, #16572, in regards to a missing component in the
'msvcirt.dll'. However, while looking over the bug, I noticed that the
'Component' selected is incorrect. Currently, the component indicated as being
at fault with the bug is 'msvcrt.dll'. The component at fault -- and not
selectable in the 'Component' dropdown -- is 'msvcirt'. As this is the correct
component at fault for the bug I reported and a DLL of the same name is shipped
with Wine, I would suggest this DLL name, msvcirt, be added to the components
selectable on the 'Components' dropdown.

Summary: Game crashes at startup when resolution is set higher
than 640x480
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.43
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: granamachine-wa(a)yahoo.com.ar
This bugs affects at least 12 different versions from at least five games from
Winning Eleven series.
To get the game running, you must:
1- Activate "Emulate virtual desktop" in Wine settings
2- Disable audio in Wine settings (as there is another bug associated with
this)
3- Run settings.exe and set resolution at 640x480, either windowed or
fullscreen
If you set resolution higher than 640x480, then the bug happens.

Workaround is winetricks vcrun2005
This is not easy to fix, but we should have a bug for it nonetheless,
even if we mark it WONTFIX.

screenshot of non-functional Quicken 2008 Deluxe help window
In Quicken 2008 Deluxe, choosing Help > Quicken Help brings up a Quicken
Personal Finances Help window with a Contents navigation pane (good!), but it
has several problems.
1. Most serious, no matter what you click, no help appears.
2. I'm pretty sure under Windows XP Quicken Help also had the usual extra Index
and Search tabs in the navigation pane, under Wine "Contents" is the only tab.
3. All the help window icons appear as a printer icon. This sounds like bug
17021.
4, The menu items are Show Back Options Print and Jump1. I'm pretty sure Jump1
is the wrong name.
5. One of the help contents titles had & in it. I'm pretty sure that HTML
entity does not appear under Windows.
I'll upload a screenshot that shows 1-4.
After clicking help items a few times to reproduce the main, I got a series of
Crash "Com Error" dialogs, then a "Quicken has encountered an unexpected error.
Error Code: 7185", but that may be unrelated -- qw.exe is now crashing with
this every time I start it.

console output from running Quicken 2008 and clicking in its help
I set the Windows Version for qw.exe to Windows 98 in winecfg to see if my help
problems (bug 20275) would go away.
When I chose Help > Quicken Help, a small rectangle of the initial help
contents appeared, but when I clicked on a help topic, the process crashed.
I'm attaching the output in terminal. The last three lines of console output

Summary: dsound:IDirectSoundBufferImpl_AcquireResources must
return DS_OK for some games
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-dsound
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jkxx2(a)yahoo.com
The url above is a link on how to patch Wine to make two games (Rail Simulator,
RailWorks) playable.
The issue is that both games call IDirectSoundBufferImpl_AcquireResources and
then crash unless the return value is DS_OK. Neither game actually calls any
related functions or requires the functionality of the real dsound function.
Upon returning DS_OK, sound works correctly in both games.
Returning DS_OK is definitely not the solution to the problem since the
function is still unimplemented but it fixes the above and maybe some other
games.

Output from terminal (I broke it down to show what I saw, when I saw it
happen).
After using ProcessExplorer to figure out what it used, I used a few DLL
overrides and got the program to load it's window. After that, it locks up and
simply can't load the 3D panels in the program for some reason. I've tried all
I know so I figure it would be a good idea to tell about the bug on here (I
also submitted my test data recently, and at this current moment is yet to be
accepted).
My WINE version is 0.9.59
This is the list of DLL overrides I had to use. You will likely have to tweak
them to try getting DirectX rendering to work.
avifil32 (native)
comctl32 (native)
comdlg32 (native)
dcap32 (native)
dciman32 (native)
ddrawex (native)
imagehlp (native)
kernel32 (native)
lz32 (native)
msacm32 (native)
msvfw32 (native)
msxml3 (native)
ole32 (native)
oleacc (native)
oleaut32 (native)
oledlg (native)
opengl32 (native, built-in)
regapi (native)
riched20 (native)
riched32 (native)
shdocvw (native)
shell32 (native)
shfolder (native)
shlwapi (native)
You can remove the opengl32 override from the list if you want to try DirectX
rendering. I also observed that unlike trying it in OpenGL mode, the only time
that the window loads properly under DirectX rendering mode is after first
selecting that mode, but trying to run the program again, it renders garbage
for the window.
There may be some dll's in there that are unecessary, but I grabbed the ones
that processexplorer said 3D Studio MAX was using during the time, and a few
that I thought might also be necessary for the DLL's listed to work properly.
Also, Software rendering failed, too. :(
