Summary: Starcraft 2 crashes with 'corrupt file' for character
portraits.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: MattFinn(a)gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=29867)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=29867)
The blizzard crash reporter information.
I've got starcraft 2 up and running. It's the retail version, updated.
I don't have a mmdevapi override, and I do have the kernel patch for icebp.
Twice now (out of two games i've tried to play) it's crashed out with a corrupt
file warning. First was:
e_fileCorrupt
"Your StarCraft II installation is corrupt. Would you like to run the Repair
tool now?"
Archive: C:\Program Files\StarCraft II\Versions\Base15405\Patch.SC2Archive *
File: Assets\Portraits\Terran\VikingPortrait\VikingPortrait.m3
Second was:
e_fileCorrupt
"Your StarCraft II installation is corrupt. Would you like to run the Repair
tool now?"
Archive: C:/Program Files/StarCraft II/Mods/Liberty.SC2Mod/Base.SC2Assets
File: Assets\Buildings\Protoss\FleetBeacon\FleetBeacon.m3
It offered to run the repair tool afterwards, but it didn't seem to change
anything.
I'll attach the console output as well as the latest blizzard crash reporter
info.

> this bug can be closed now, catalyst 10.7 fixes the issue
Not for me. Im running arch linux x86-64, core 2 duo e8400, hd4850, and
catalyst catalyst 10.7-1 (arch aur). Have tried for wine-git with
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23578 patch enable. Tried with and
without oss and alsa. Windows xp and 98. And different registery-settings.
Problem still appearing. So id say it is not solved.
Posted earlier to here: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7698

I'll just repeat what I heard from the experts (so don't ask me to explain).
The reason for the 'No Pixel Shader 2.0' error would be that the NVidia
proprietary driver reports the pixel size to be 63.75 instead of 64 as expected
by 3DMark.
Note that the error also happens with the Intel driver which means this may be
a general issue where OpenGL's and Direct3D's idea of where a pixel starts and
stops differs.

This is caused by an update to Valve Anti Cheat (VAC): ->
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23578 The bug has already been fixed in
GIT, so the next wine release will be ok too. Some people reported that setting
ther hl2.exe to Windows 98 in winecfg fixes the issue as well.

Confirming similar problem. wine-1.2 from arch repo. ARCH linux x86_64, ati
radeon hd4850 with catalyst 10.7(Same result with 10.6). Happens all the time
while playing online also in Cs 1.6.
But can do local game and play with bots. Cs office freezes extremely often. My
mouse and keyboard dont have any effect but system stays alive so i can kill
the game process by login to my machine trough ssh.
No problems in half-life 2 what so ever while single playing.

Problem still in place in Wine 1.2
I have a ddraw trace available, but the critical area looks pretty much the
same as James's.
