Summary: SimCity 3000 Unlimited Black Main Menu
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.24
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tim(a)timothyb89.org
When trying to run SimCity 3000 Unlimited, the main menu shows nothing more
than a black screen (after playing a short intro video), although the
background music plays fine.
The terminal output has many (thousands of) lines with:
fixme:d3d_surface:surface_convert_format Cannot find a conversion function from
format WINED3DFMT_A8R8G8B8 to WINED3DFMT_X8R8G8B8
My best guess is that this problem is somehow preventing anything from being
drawn.
I get the same errors when running in windowed mode (virtual desktop), and
fullscreen.
Thanks!

In the AppDB page for the MS .Net 3.5 entry, there is an apparently empty note.
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=10166
Clicking on EDIT gives the following error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function AddTextCell() on a non-object in
/home/winehq/opt/appdb/include/objectManager.php on line 1654
Could this be an orphaned note?

"Fatal error: Call to undefined method noteLink::objectGetId() in

I have saved the note for future reference so it can be removed from the page
for now, but it is impossible, always throwing up the same error message.

Summary: winecfg does not play 'Test Sound'
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.14
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: andreas.bierfert(a)lowlatency.de
Steps to reproduce:
1) Start winecfg
2) Go to Audio tab
3) Select (any) audio driver (example below with ALSA Driver)
4) Click Apply
5) Click Test Sound
Result:
No sound is played
Expected Result:
Sound is played
Interestingly sound works just fine in wine applications (tested with winamp).
So this points to some problem in winecfg.
This has not worked for me since at least 1.3.10.
WINEDEBUG=coreaudio+all winecfg gives:
err:alsa:ALSA_CheckSetVolume Could not find 'PCM Playback Volume' element
fixme:winmm:proc_PlaySound Couldn't play header

Summary: Steam will not play game (Magika) beyond the preparing
to launch menu
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.12
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: blackman.duncan(a)gmail.com
I know I need to post a log here but haven't been able to produce one for steam
- any help on how to get the log to you guys and I'll do that ASAP.
The game is installed and I can run steam (it is currently running) however
once I click the link to play Magicka the screen pops up saying:
Preparing to launch Magicka...
that stay for a few seconds as usual - then nothing. Once that screen vanishes
the game doesn't load - and none of my computers resources are being used for
it so I know it hasn't loaded.
I looked through the bug database and have tried with the steam community off
(although that bug seems to be fixed -
