If you use native comctl32.dll or in windows you'll see tooltips over these partly covered items, displaying full item name. Wine won't show anything. This is true with listview also. In some applications that have big listview tables with long values this bug becomes pretty annoying (when you constantly have to change comlumn widths etc in order to see complete values). In a Win32 .c program, the TTN_NEEDTEXT is normally sent when text is needed for the display of a toolbar tip message. Wine does not send this message. On the second attempt the Elements Welcome Screen crashes and, after a minute long wait, the Editor opens. With the sane test backend, Irfanview still crashes when attempting to scan. The test backend works just fine with Picasa though. To scan, select File -> Acquire/batch scanning. I've logged the entire run from start to the hang. The apparent hang appears to be due to an exception, specifically: wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0xffffffff at address 0x7deff986 (t hread 0009), starting debugger... Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0xffffffff in 32-bit code (0x7 deff986). (That may not be related to this message anyway for all I know.) This doesn't happen in WinXP/Vista/2k mode.
