Approach without opening dialog box
Hi All,
I am am the OP on 15088. Now that I can actually get into Approach, I have
been using it all day. I have five bugs to report. (I am presuming you want
them on different reports.) I am running the native msvcrt.
sh -c "cd /home/wine/drive_c/lotus/approach; WINEDEBUG=+loaddll
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=msvcrt=n /usr/local/bin/wine ./approach.exe"
Bug number three: when Approach starts, it is suppose to show a "Welcome to
Approach" dialog box. In Wine it does not.
To reproduce:
1) open Approach with the native msvcrt
To see what this should look like (or see my attachment),
1) open Approach with the native msvcrt
2) open a database
3) close the database (File, Close). The welcome to Approach dialog will pop
up
Here is a sample database to play with:

Bug #: 31965
Summary: mouse capture/behavior wrong
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.15
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: m.lanuschny(a)chello.nl

Hello,
first of all I am not sure if this is reallyh a bug or some sort of bug in my
config, but since i was not able to fix it/find a solutiuon i post it here.
I have had a period of no issues and Eve-online was working fine with multiple
clients running.
A couple weeks ago (might be months now) this issue poped up after a OS update
and i think there was also a wine update (i think it was to wine 1.5.13, but i
did not take a note then, so this is more a guess than a fact)
issue i am experiencing:
when grabfullscreen is set to N (=default):
The mouse pointer can leave the eve client by simply moving it out of the
eve-client window. But within the eve-client window the mouse behaves wrong.
For example when coming from different app and clicking on the eve-client
window while in station, the ship spins. The right click pop-up menus do not
highlight entries when moving the mouse cursor over them, eventually a random
item gets selected when keeping moving the mouse then i can navigate to the
wanted pop-up menu item using the arrow-keys. Seems as if there is an offset
between the mouse-pointer location i see and how the client responds to it.
Also in-game icons, that should light up when moving the mouse-pointer over it
do not highlight.
when grabfullscreen is set to Y:
Within the EVE-client window the mouse behaves as expected, but now the mouse
pointer can not leave the EVE-client window. I would understand this behavior
if i was running wine in a full screen mode, but i don't.
Before this issue i have had grabfullscreen in default mode (=N) ann was able
to move the mouse-cursor freely. AFAIK nothing changed in my config.
Here some data:
Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) 64 bit
kernel to 3.2.0-32-generic
processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
RAM: 4 GB
NVIDIA Driver Version: 295.40
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
wine 1.5.15
wine settings changed with winetricks:
ddr=opengl
mwo=force
psm=enabled
videomemorysize=default
vsm=hardware
(no grabfullscreen=y selected, default is grabfullscreen=n)
when checking the config using winecfg the tab 'graphics' has the following
settings:
- Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows -> checked
- Allow the window manager to decorate the windows -> checked
- Allow the window manager to control the windows -> checked
- Emulate a virtual desktop -> NOT checked
I start the eve client with somthing like this:
wine explorer /desktop=One,1280x960 "C:\Program Files\CCP\One\eve.exe"
eve is starting fine and is behaving fine as long i do not need to move the
mouse outside of the client.
I do not know what data i should attache to this and how to get that data.
Please advice.
thanks

edit:
I have asked in the in-game Linux-channel, but no-one seem to have this issue
or wa snot online at the thime i was asking.
I have also created two threads about this in the eve-o forums and from the
responses it seems that noone that have read these threads has this issue.
I have searched the winehq site for similar bugs/reports and found this:
30057 8 0 -unknown normal Linux --- mouse capture
broken in xserver 1.11 (ubuntu 12.04)
but the bug seems resolved.
I did run the wine test suite and it found 20 failures, but since some dll are
set to native it did not report them (if i understood the tool correctly)

wine debug
Hello!
We have a problem with Wine 1.3.15 and First Class 10.009, this problem occurs
only when the user does not have any administrative rights in the First Class
network he or she is connected to. Upon printing the application crashes.
I have attached a debug trace from Wine that hopefully has the info needed to
solve the problem, the OS is Ubuntu 10.10 64 Bit.
If you need any more information i will be happy to add it as soon as i can and
assist you in any way possible to solve this. I am however no programmer.
Best Regards!

Sony "IC Recorder" ICD-SX57 digital voice recorder uses
a proprietary format, .msv, and comes with "Sony Digital Voice Editor 3",
an app to convert them to .mp3. (I believe you can download
several versions of that app from the URL above, haven't tried that myself.)
The app's installer completes, but Wine warns that MSCAT32.DLL
was not found. Mike Hearn posted a patch that adds stubs for
this, http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2006-April/026116.html ,
so I updated it a bit, added two missing forwards, and
now the app installs without warning.
The next problem was a crash on startup, with backtrace starting with
=>1 0x7e37a450 convert_888_to_565_asis+0x70(width=0x78, height=0x18,

(0x0033eed4)
Now, that's an old friend, and a patch for it is in
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7380#c16
With that patch, the app starts up and can find media properly.
Once you've done all that, you come to the bug that is the subject of this
report, namely, it crashes when you ask it to load a .msv file.
First, Wine outputs a stream of warnings for about twenty seconds,
saying over and over

Forge (http://www.playforgewar.com/) is an upcoming deathmatch game with
MMO-inspired combat. It's currently possible to buy into the Alpha test, but
that's not necessary to reproduce this bug.
The download client (see download link) doesn't require any authentication to
install and run. I believe a login is required to actually play.
On Wine, the client installs, but the process hangs before displaying any
window.

Just some major graphical glitches.
I have installed Medieval 2 Total War, and it installed fine. Upon starting the
game, I noticed that the screen was torn [see screenshot] to the point of
unplayability. I have tried this on two graphics cards, neither of which did
any better (Intel hd3000 and NVS4200M with nouveau). The game runs perfectly
fine besides that major graphical glitch.
