It sometimes gets out of it, but usually I have to kill hl2.exe from a vt. In this case, Wine makes > full use of this information and really mimics the Windows behavior: the short > filename used for any file is the same than on Windows. Wine does not detect real short names on NTFS partitions but Linux is able to access the real short names on NTFS partitions. Thus, there is either a bug in Wine or in the documentation quoted above.
