Bug ID: 42733
Summary: Unable to find an entry point named 'RegSaveKeyEx' in
DLL 'advapi32.dll' (SQL Server)
Product: Wine
Version: 2.4
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: advapi32
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: pgkos.bugzilla(a)yahoo.com
Distribution: ---
Created attachment 57726
--> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=57726
Screenshot of the error message box
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Wine Staging 2.4.
2. export WINEARCH=win32 && export WINEPREFIX=~/.wine
3. Create a new Wineprefix.
4. Download Winetricks and use it to install NET Framework 4.6.1, mspatcha and
MS Visual C++ 2010 runtime.
5. Set Wine Windows version to 8.1.
6. Download SQL Server 2012 SP3 from
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=50003 -
ENU\x86\SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe (sha256sum:
fb83d5035acb1a26a1e5805b5de5d463d18de9adf44fe7052261b83b901b7794)
7. Run the setup. The setup unpacks, starts. Then after I click 'New SQL Server
stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation', a window
opens. After I accept everything, click ok, the window closes and a message box
appears with an error that the setup cannot find an entry point named
'RegSaveKeyEx' in DLL 'advapi32.dll'. The setup does not continue.
The same error also occurs when trying to install SQL Server 2014.
I am attaching a screenshot with the error message box.

change to revert compile
Nox menu flickers constantly after:
commit 381cd03eb3860f4b963af9b37cc3258b3f45d17d
Author: Henri Verbeet <hverbeet(a)codeweavers.com>
Date: Wed Mar 29 23:17:28 2017 +0200
ddraw: Implement depth/colour fills on top of
wined3d_device_clear_rendertarget_view().

https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commitdiff/381cd03eb3860f4b963af9b37…
The patch reverts cleanly but cannot compile on top of wine-git due to a struct
change, BUT commenting the offending line make the change compile and the
problem is gone (change to revert attached to prove it is not used). Putting
the patch back makes it flicker again.
The game demo has only black screen in any version so it cannot be used to
test.

Launching from 32-bit steam and a 32-bit wineprefix, the GUI still shows up,
and some particle effects show up as well.
The game functions fine, except I can't see any of the 3d models.
According to a random site the game uses the Unreal Engine 4 engine.
I tried to pipe the output to a file (by appending > output.txt to command) but
it didn't work for some reason.
Here is the last bit of output from the terminal:

Arch Linux 64-bit
Nvidia GTX 1070 with beta binary drivers 381.09

Screenshot of a fresh installation of Reason 5
Propellerhead Reason 5 running on Wine versions after 2.1 draws its custom UI
elements in black and white, sometimes with dithering. Standard UI elements
(such as scrollbars, buttons and menus) are drawn correctly.
A few other, possibly related, rendering issues exist, such as parts of the UI
being drawn in the wrong place. These are not as easily reproducible.
I did a bisection and the issues seem to have begun with commit
35ae7c8f5939c0ba77b4023a14596706852f5acd.
Tested on a fresh 64bit wineprefix and later bisected on a mostly fresh 64bit
wineprefix.

Created attachment 57840

sample MSI package triggering bug
INITIAL CONDITIONS
Have MSI package with:
1. 3 Features "A", "B" and "C" set up into the hierarchy where "A" is the
parent feature of "B" and "B" is the parent feature of "C";
2. Property "INSTALLTYPE" with default value "0";
3. Condition setting Level of the Feature "A" to "0" (i.e. disables the
feature) when INSTALLTYPE is not "0"
4. CustomAction "RunWithC" that is invoked when Feature "C" is to be installed.
SCENARIO
1. Run the installer on Windows with the following command line:
msiexec /i wine_msi_bug.msi /L*vx install.log /quiet INSTALLTYPE="1"
Expected: CustomAction "RunWithC" has been skipped
Actual: the same
2. Run the installer using WINE with the following command line:
WINEDEBUG=+msi,+msidb,+msiexec wine msiexec.exe /i wine_msi_bug.msi '/L*vx'
install.log /quiet INSTALLTYPE="1" >& wine.log
Expected: CustomAction "RunWithC" has been skipped
Actual: CustomAction "RunWithC" has been executed
The difference can be clearly seen when comparing produced logs for both
platforms: all 3 features are marked as skipped on Windows, only "A" and "B"
are marked as skipped with WINE.
