How are you mounting the remote shares, or are you trying to
access the remote shares without mounting them first?
Also, which version of Linux are you (or your users) using?

This problem is affecting Office2007 programs that try to save documents
directly to a Samba Share, even though directory\file permissions allow it to
happen.
This needs to be addressed.

There is a C++ exception after receiving a WM_MOUSEACTIVATE and then after a
call to PeekMessageW there is a access violation exception. The C++ exception
seems to be the main cause but it's hard if it is and why it is thrown.

test.sh + test.bat
linux symlink (on ext4 filesystem) "seen" under wine environment appears as
regular file with correct content but with zero size.
wine 4.11 (error appeared probably after 4.7)
attachment:
test.sh runs test.bat two times under different wine versions - (please set
HQ_PATH / PATH_TO_WINE_BINARIES var, and maybe set disable .update-timestamp )
version 4.7 and any earlier worked fine

A program tries to open an file on a network share via a "file://" url. This
will result in a call to winebrowser, which fails. I tried a equivalent bash
call:
$ wine winebrowser
"file://\\\\fs2\wt\bib2\7-edv\dbs03\lager\gmbh-res-protect\00\00\00\01\75\t-0000017558-100.pdf"
Which results in:
0062:err:winebrowser:wmain Failed to convert file URL to unix path
gvfs-open:
file://\\fs2\wt\bib2\7-edv\dbs03\lager\gmbh-res-protect\00\00\00\01\75\t-0000017558-100.pdf:
Fehler beim Öffnen des Ortes: Vorgang wird nicht unterstützt
I narrowed it down to: winebrowser/main.c in the 'static WCHAR
*convert_file_uri(IUri *uri)' function.

Wine logs
The application displays and functions properly except for the grading program
(the most important feature of the product).
Jasperactive itself displays the error: COMException error: Exception from
HRESULT: 0x8001010E (RPC_E_WRONG_THREAD)
The application works in tandem with Microsoft Office programs
(Word/Powerpoint/Excel) in order to provide training for certification exams.
This error can only be seen in the debugging console, in the program itself it
will just be noticed that all assignments/quizzes/lessons grade as incorrect.
Tested on 4.11, program is nonfunctional on 4.12.1 due to graphics not
displaying (possibly due to 47479).
In the logs the issue begins after line 1607.
Program is available for download at:
http://ja-cdn.azureedge.net/Jasperactive_1.1.4.7.msi
Key is required to activate program, can be provided on request.

Backtrace error upon starting Sierra Chart
Sierrachart normally runs exceptionally well in Wine. Just installed Wine 4.12
and the error in the attached backtrace file occurs whenever starting. After,
Sierrachart does start. It always occurs with Wine 4.12, never any other
version. You can download and test for free at: www.sierrachart.com. The
command used to start Sierrachart:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/todd/.wine" wine C:\\SierraChart\\SierraChart_64.exe
