Hack to remove display-flaws in ProjectOne
After installing and running the software, the pixels in the zoom-mode and the
grid are all black. So, you can paint, but will see the results in the overview
window only. Selecting View->Palette shows also black boxes instead of the
C64-colors.
I took this opportunity to get started with wine-hacking, and finally came up
with the attached patch, which removes the above flaws. It is based on git as
of yesterday, but I could also apply it to 1.1.28 which I had installed on
another computer. The problem itself was noticed way earlier, maybe pre 1.0.0,
but I can't give exact numbers here. I am aware this is not a true fix; still
it should be a good hint where differences between wine and Windows are. I am
afraid my (yet) lacking windows-skills won't take me much further, so I'll file
this as a bug-report now. I will also attach screenshots before/after the patch
later.
Note that this program was coded by a friend of mine and I do have the
sourcecode. If worthwhile, I can ask him for allowance to give the source to
interested wine-developers (but beware of hackish, first-time VB-code ;)) or
just ask me for details, if needed.

Processor.
wine version is 1.3.36 installed from Fedora package wine-1.3.36-1.fc16
used install-gecko shell script (see attached) to install gecko as recommended
by winetricks
hquote is version 7.4.0; trial version can be downloaded from www.hquotes.com
It is a 32 bit program, gets installed to Program Files (x86).
I am running registered hquote version, but except for some features I cannot
even get to, there is no difference between the unregistered and registered
versions.
hquote runs with no problems on VirtualBox Windows 7 installation as a guest in
the Fedora 16 x86_64 box.
hquote runs under wine 1.3.24 with no problems on a 32bit Fedora 14
installation.
When I run it on this Fedora 16 installation, it starts up and then bombs. The
mfc42.dll which is neeeded for it to run has been used for years and was taken
from an old Windows XP installation. Could that be the problem?
Using the WINEDEBUG suggestion, I produced the attached hquote.log.txt file.
Hopefully it tells you what it going wrong. Would like to get it working under
wine once again.

The last time I tried DigitalSpace Traveler (2.03) was with wine 1.3.6, where
it was still working. However, after a report on the software's appdb page and
me trying with wine 1.3.18, it seems the app is broken after 1.3.6.
The program crashes after selecting an avatar (about the time it attempts to
download information from a remote http server). Any program interaction prior
to selecting an avatar works just fine (changing profile information, etc).
I've attached the console output from wine 1.3.18. If there is a specific
WINEDEBUG setting I should use that would provide more helpful output for this
problem, let me know and I'll attach another log.

occurs:

It seems that Bass.dll calls to DirectSoundEnumerate in its Dllmain and
something goes wrong.
An old version of Bass.dll can be downloaded from its homepage:
http://www.un4seen.com/download.php?bass08
There are also some test programs for Bass.dll in the package above. They all
fail to start under wine but work all right under windows.

Summary: CoreAudio queue memory leak
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.25
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.5
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: mmdevapi
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hoehle(a)users.sourceforge.net
CC: aeikum(a)codeweavers.com
While working on a patch to fix the Get/ReleaseBuffer ordering, see bug #27184
comment #3, I found a bug in memory management in winecoreaudio's mmdevapi.
510 HeapFree(GetProcessHeap(), 0, This->public_buffer);
but public_buffer originates from
1625 sc = AudioQueueAllocateBuffer(This->aqueue, bytes,
1626 &This->public_buffer);
The APIs don't match. It currently doesn't crash because
public_buffer is NULL upon regular exit. This matches:
1634 AudioQueueFreeBuffer(This->aqueue, This->public_buffer);
That would be easy to fix, but it leads to question how AudioClient_Release
frees the buffer queue.
502 if(This->aqueue)
503 AudioQueueDispose(This->aqueue, 1);
I suppose that Dispose gets rid of all the MacOS-level elements left in the
queue, but I doubt it can handle the additional AQBuffer that Wine links to
every object via the mUserData slot.
1632 buf = HeapAlloc(GetProcessHeap(), 0, sizeof(AQBuffer));
1640 This->public_buffer->mUserData = buf;
Therefore I believe Wine must iterate through the list (aqueue or
avail_buffers?) and free remaining objects one by one.
As I'm not familiar with the MacOS API's, I'd like somebody knowledgeable
(Andrew, Ken?), to check this issue and write the patch.
BTW, I believe that correct freeing should first return
This->public_buffer into the queue -- where it originated -- like I did in my
ordering patch, then delete the whole queue.
+ if(This->public_buffer){
+ AQBuffer *buf = This->public_buffer->mUserData;
+ list_add_tail(&This->avail_buffers, &buf->entry);
+ This->public_buffer = NULL;
+ }

This problem occurs in many games which use quartz/winegstreamer to play the
intro videos.
The problem: the intro video is playing fine, but as soon as it ends (or when I
skip the video) the game freezes. Shortly after, Wine crashes (without a usable
backtrace).
The following message is printed in the terminal:

The reverted patch fixed the issue (wine-1.3.37-254-g14b790a).
Steps to reproduce the problem with RC Cars demo:
1. Unpack, then install the demo with 'wine msiexec /i RCCarsDemo_Full.msi'.
2. Start the demo with RCCarsDemo.exe. In the launcher click on <Continue>. The
intro video begins to play. The video is nearly 2 minutes long, you can skip it
by pressing <Esc>. The game freezes at this point.

The Kane Edition of C&C3 or the "Kane Edition" of Wine available from my
website? ( http://www.compholio.com/wine-kane/ ). You currently need a patched
version of Wine (such as the one on my site) to play C&C3 over a LAN.

The following worked for me:
- Start with a fresh wine prefix
- Run 'winetricks dsound directmusic'
- Copy native msdmo.dll and dsdmo.dll to system32
- Run 'wine regsvr32 dsdmo.dll'
- Copy native msadp32.acm to system32
- Run 'wine regsvr32 quartz.dll'
- Add overrides for msdmo, dsdmo and msadp32.acm
- Install the game & apply patches

No. Our PCs just got faster. This is a deeper problem with async DirectDraw API
that is rarely used.
I suggest using my cnc-ddraw as the alternative renderer at the moment for
optimal speed.

Latest patch ( attachment 36317 ) applied and worked fine on wine 1.3.34 wich
is a quite recent version of wine, but I didn't tested after that.
Outside of that, if I recall correctly the patch here does nothing to textures,
so likely is something else on the newest wine version. Test it with an
unpatched wine build, and if the behaviour is there (I bet it will), open a bug

This is a regression because I tried running firefox in wine 1.1.42 and it
works fine.

Summary: Source Insight does not refresh the screen

Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: download, regression
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winex11.drv
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: scott(a)open-vote.org
>From Launchpad: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine/+bug/208853
I have installed Source Insight, v3.50.0058 (http://www.sourceinsight.com),
under Wine (0.9.58-0ubuntu2) under Hardy Beta.
Source Insight is a code editor and browser. You can install a time-limited
copy if you want.
Anyway, having used this under Wine under Ubuntu for 18 months, with only a
couple of niggly problems, I decided to upgrade (by doing a wipe + fresh
install) to Hardy Beta. Since then, Source Insight has exhibited major
problems.
These all centre around NOT refreshing the screen after things happen:
(1) Opening a new source-file window and moving it. Also resizing an existing
window.
(2) Minimising and then maximising the Source Insight window itself.
In both cases, the screen inside the Source Insight window does not refresh.
Moving the window around the screen does nothing (except get a nice swirly
pattern of a repeating window title-bar inside the window itself.
The only way I have found to cure the problem and make the window refresh
itself is to switch to the second workspace, wait a few seconds (until the
window with the "Go to left workspace ..." pops up) and then switch back. THEN
the window refreshes. Sometimes. If it does not, switch to the other workspace
again and wait longer before switching back.
This is on a Dell D620 with an nVidia "G72M [Quadro NVS 110M/GeForce Go 7300]"
and a second Dell 2007FP display attached. I'm running the graphics in TwinView
mode (which means a manually configured xorg.conf, attached [see launchpad]).
Going to System -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Visual Effects shows that
"None" is currently active.
---
The problem seems a LOT worse when running with the two displays and with the
Source Insight window on the second (non-laptop) display.
When running in single-display mode (i.e. at home instead of work), the "new
source file window" problem does not seem to occur so much. The
"minimising/maximising" problem occurs all the time, whatever the display being
used.
---
I believe the last version this worked with for this user was 0.9.46 (the one
that came with Ubuntu Gutsy).

Hi All,
I am using Lotus Word Pro N9.8.0208.1200. My printer is an Okidata B4350 LED
printer (like a laser printer only fewer moving parts and the fuser does have
to get as hot). I print through cups cups-1.3.7-8.el5_3.4 locally and
cups-lpd-1.3.7-8.el5_3.4 remotely (virtual machines) using cups' "Generic PCL
5e Printer Foomatic/ljet4" driver.
Occasionally, when printing from Word Pro under Wine, the letters will run
together. I will attach a sample and the file that generated it.
Please note. No program in Linux or any of my virtual machines does this,
including this same version of Word Pro running under XP-Pro-SP3 and Virtual
Box 2.2.4.
Many thanks,

When launching a game from Steam (in this case, Torchlight or Trine), Steam
performs "first time setup" every time. For these games on my system, the
setup consists of
"Installing: Microsoft DirectX for Windows (step 1 of 1)"
This happens everytime I launch a game, even if it happens during the same
instance of Steam.
I am using version 1.1.36 of the wine-devel package in macports on OS X.
I have attached the text that was logged to my console during this setup, I
think the last few lines were generated by the game itself and not by Steam.

That means that I have to kill the screen which then means I can't exit out of

I have tried pressing the arrow buttons to listen to the telltale clicks that

This is a simple tool I created that will create .lnk files which in turn

This is great for pre-installed apps you want to add to your menu/dock.
Example:
winelnk.exe wow.exe
Creates a desktop shortcut to wow.exe with icon.
Feel free to use or include in wine itself.

Gzipped output of WINEDEBUG=trace+relay wine Steam.exe
Running Steam results in strange behaviour on Solaris and OpenSolaris.
When Steam is first installed (using either the current MSI installer or an
older standalone installer), it successfully updates itself and automatically
restarts.
,
On restart, it spews extensive messages to the console about connection
attempts to all 100+ CSDS servers with latency.
For example, the last couple of lines are:
CellID: Connecting to 87.248.209.212:27031. . .
CellID: Connect to 87.248.209.212:27031 took 110 MS
CellID: !! Got Cell ID 2 from server 69.28.153.90:27031
It then makes no further progress and appears to hang. If interrupted with
Ctrl-C, it displays a "SteamStartup() failed" messagebox before exiting.
When started again, Steam.exe prints set of "CellID:" messages showing that is
is connecting to a particular server, then blocks for at least a minute, then
connects to a different server. This goes on indefinitely.
I'm attaching a WINEDEBUG=trace+relay log (to reduce log size, this Steam
instance was interrupted after about 30 seconds). I can't do
WINEDEBUG=trace+all because it results in an error message from Steam about
being unable to load SteamUI.dll.
This seems to be a network related issue, but I'm not entirely certain.

The Natural Selection 2 Test Engine crashes when attempting to start just after
sound has started to play and a black window has spawned. I have been given a
key by one of the developers to debug this issue and if you require it please
contact me privately.
This application did function correctly as of Wine ~1.1.33 and stopped working
shortly after. Regression testing is not possible as Steam no longer starts
with these older versions of Wine and NS2 crashes with the first version where
they both work.
NS2 requires Steam be running in the background to function. There are two
sections of note in the attached console log.
The first appeared at the same time the game stopped functioning so is most
likely related:

Arch Linux x86_64, up to date except for Xorg (using 1.10.4) and Nvidia (using
280.13) packages due to a transparency bug in TF2 I've reported to nvidia
caused by nvidia drivers 285.05. I'm on a GTS 250.
In Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, there is a 1.5 second or so complete
freeze of the whole game whenever you blow up something explosive (like killing
any suicide bomb guy always works), consistently. A very good map to reproduce
this on if you have the fusion dlc (serious sam hd tfe content in serious sam
hd tse) is Campaign -> Egypt -> Sand Canyon, since bomb guys come at you
continuously right when you walk out the first door.
Now, I have found a workaround for this which makes no logical sense to me
whatsoever, but I have reproduced it over 10 times (excluding many other times
I reproduced it a long time ago) just to be sure I'm not crazy or mistaken. If
you run a new wineprefix (let's call it winesam), and use a symbolic link to
Steam in your main wine folder under winesam, it works fine. You may think
"Well, that means it's just the clean wine prefix. The main one must have a
problem", not so. If you MOVE the steam folder from the ~/.wine prefix to the
~/.winesam prefix, it starts to lag again. Move it back to the ~/.wine one, and
then link to it with ln -s instead in ~/.winesam, no more lag upon killing bomb
guys. Switching it back and forth in otherwise unchanged ~/.wine and ~/.winesam
reproduces/fixes the issue respectively.
Specific commands:
# Assuming Steam program files folder is currently in ~/.wine prefix

mv ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Steam ./
WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.winesam wine "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe"

I have no idea why this is even possible, since it is just linking to the exact
same thing. Note that doing this the opposite way also works: running regular
wine prefix ~/.wine that has a symlink to Steam somewhere else produces no
further explosion lag.
Other than this short hang when blowing up a bomb guy, the game runs perfectly
fine in wine 1.3.18 or with a patched 1.3.32 (see
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29079 ). Same issue in both wine
versions.

Log with WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid,+x11drv,+bitmap
This bug applies to Puzzle Master 3 by eGames. Both the retail CD-ROM and
downloadable trial are affected. I tested using Lubuntu 11.10 64-bit.
A time-limited trial can be downloaded from
http://www.egames.com/game/download/puzzle+master+3.html
You'll probably need to do "winetricks ie6" before running the trial installer.
Running the game (Game/PuzMast.exe for the CD-ROM, puzmast.exe for the trial),
it opens then immediately closes a window and exits. Console output:
X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 53 (X_CreatePixmap)
Serial number of failed request: 43449
Current serial number in output stream: 43511
That looks similar to bug 14664 which was apparently fixed. Maybe this issue is
different?
Running the game with WINEDEBUG=+synchronous it gets further; the main window
and a smaller Jigsaw Preview window stay open but the program then seems to
hang using all CPU time.
I'll attach a log with WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid,+x11drv,+bitmap.

Summary: Cannot prevent window manager from decorating virtual
desktop
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.37
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mel(a)raumkraut.net

Since Wine version 1.3.36 (1.3.37 is latest tested at time of writing), the
"Allow the window manager to decorate the windows" winecfg option hasn't been
working when emulating a virtual desktop. Whether or not the option is
selected, the virtual desktop's titlebar and borders get decorated by the WM.
If I revert back to 1.3.35, the option in question changes whether window
decorations get rendered or not for virtual desktops.
I'm using XFCE (4.6.1) on Ubuntu Lucid.
I suspect this was caused by the fix which closed:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29373
However, this now absent functionality, to which I have become accustomed, has
sat as it's own "new" bug report for quite a while already:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12677 - It would be nice to have it
confirmed (through that and/or this bugs' status) whether the now missing
functionality was ever actually intended!

Summary: Mouse "sticks" when moving/resizing Steam windows, and
they jump twice as far as moved/sized
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.3
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: davidsboogs(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
This is an offshoot of bug 24579 where it was determined that the current
behavior is different enough to count as a new bug.
Sometimes windows of the Steam client don't react properly when the mouse
button is released, when it was used to move or resize the window: They
continue to act as though the button is still being held (moving or resizing
more when the pointer is within the window boundry) and they "Jump" about
double the distance that they (or their window border) was moved from the point
where the mouse was initially clicked.
A workaround (for moving anyway) is is to hold alt (depending on your window
manager's settings) and 'force move' the windows instead of letting the
app/wine handle it.
I have read in the other bug that if the windows have Window Manager provided
decorations, then dragging those may not reproduce this, but I have not
attempted to force my Steam windows to have them.

When trying to build 32-bit on a 64-bit system, the "checking for -lGLU" phase

in config.log, I found:

configure:8972: gcc -m32 -o conftest -g -O2 conftest.c -lGLU -lGL -lSM
-lICE -lXext -lX11 -lm >&5
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib64/libSM.so when searching for -lSM
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lSM
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
The error is true (32-bit libSM.so is not installed) but this is the first
reference to -lSM so the failure to use -lGLU is somewhat misleading.
Perhaps configure should check for -lSM explicitly?

Hi,
There is a difference between how Wine and Windows handle mouse wheel events.
In Windows, moving the mouse wheel affects the currently-selected control (the
last control clicked on), even if the pointer is over another control. In order
to change the control which is under the pointer, you need to click to activate
it first.
In Wine, moving the mouse wheel affects whatever control the pointer is over.
For example, try this:
- Click in a combo box to activate it. Move the mouse wheel and notice the
selected item changes.
- Move the pointer over another combo box. Without clicking the button, move
the wheel.
- The selected item of the combo box under the pointer changes. (On Windows,
the selected item of the active combo box would change instead.)
One program which shows this issue is WinUAE.
- Download and run InstallWinUAE2330.exe. Check the box to run the program at
the end.
- After clicking OK at the initial dialog box, the WinUAE Properties window
opens.
- In the tree view at the left side, click Sound. There are several combo
boxes. Move the pointer over one and click in it. Move pointer over the other
combo boxes and move the mouse wheel.
- Sliders are also affected. Click RAM in the tree view, then move the pointer
over the Chip or Slow sliders and move the mouse wheel.
Using native comctl32 didn't make a difference.

This used to work at some point, however rather than a regression in Wine I
think it may be a case of the hardware survey getting more pervasive. These
two errors show in the terminal:
fixme:process:GetLogicalProcessorInformation ((nil),0x33fc84): stub
fixme:process:GetLogicalProcessorInformation (0x433c00,0x33fc84): stub
As a random guess, the crash may just be steam getting confused by the output
given by the stubs.

In some situations the game will crash. For example at the initiation city near
the mage trainer there are a few boxes. If you destroy them, the game will
crash. Next is when you go back to the airship there will be a sequence and
after the dialog you can move where you want. If you turn around after that
dialog the game will also crash.
I tried various times and those crashes are 100% reproducable with version 1.03

Bug #: 29254
Summary: Alt key gets stuck when launching an X11 application
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.34
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: winehq(a)tibit.com
Classification: Unclassified
When launching an X11 app from a Windows app using Alt + another key, and the
launched X11 app takes keyboard focus before the Alt key is released, the
Windows app is left thinking the Alt key is still pressed. Returning to the
Windows app using the mouse (or using the other Alt key + Tab) finds it in a
state where many keystrokes don't work properly.
Workaround: Once you figure out that the app is misbehaving because Wine thinks
a key is still down, this state can be cleared by tapping the
originally-pressed Alt key a couple of times. (But having to do this is
maddening.)
This is a regression. The problem doesn't exist in wine-stable (1.2.3).
This probably affects multiple applications, but I discovered it using the
Forte Agent mail reader. To reproduce:
1. Download Forte Agent free trial:
http://www.forteinc.com/agent/download.php
2. Configure it for receiving email.
3. Send yourself a few email messages with attachments that can be handled by
an X11 program launched from Wine. The easiest way to test is to just send a
html (mime multipart) message.
4. Open the email in Agent.
5. Control+I (or click Message -> Index) to show the message's mime parts.
6. Highlight the text/html item or attachment.
7. Alt+L to launch the attachment. Do not release the Alt until the X11 helper
application (e.g. Firefox) appears and takes focus. If Agent prompts you to
confirm before it launches the helper app, tell it not to confirm next time,
and do it again. The goal here is to see what happens when the helper app
opens before you let go of the Alt key.
8. Return to Agent's message list using the mouse (or using the other Alt key +
Tab.)
9. Try to navigate the message list with the Up & Down arrows. Notice that it
don't work, because Wine thinks Alt is still depressed.
10. Tap Alt twice to clear the stuck key.
The same problem shows up in other scenarios and with other keys. I chose to
demonstrate with this approach because it's the most familiar to me and because
a stuck Alt key has more obvious side-effects than some other keys.
To see the Control key get stuck, email yourself a message with a URL in it,
receive the message, highlight the URL, and Control + U to launch it in your
X11 browser. Return to Agent and notice that the Control key is now stuck
until you tap it again.

I am running the Crysis Wars dedicated server through a script. This app needs
an X server, but doesn't do anything with it. It just spawns a console window
displaying the server console.
To prevent the need for an X server, I am using Xvfb (a "fake" X server). Let's
assume that this Xvfb session is :10.
I run the application with DISPLAY=:10 and wineconsole --backend=curses. This
gives me the server console on the controlling terminal, but it will still run
inside the Xvfb session.
This works extremely well.
The problems starts when I try to run another instance of my application. I
start another Xvfb session for it (let's assume :11), and run it like described
above, but with DISPLAY=:11.
Both instances of the app use the same wineserver, but run on different
DISPLAYs and show their console onto the controlling terminal.
Except that the second instance always crashes halfway through loading a map
with this error:

I have used the application Memory Map under Wine for years, in fact I posted
some of the entries for it in the Application Database. It has always worked
well for me, through several upgrades of the underlying OS.
Yesterday, I upgraded my system to Kubuntu 11.10 by a clean installation
(retaining my /home partition) and today I re-installed Wine. When I launch
Memory Map I get a dialog headed 'Program Error' that says 'The program
MMNav.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are
sorry....'
The supporting info simply points me here.
Since this has worked for so long, I have no idea what version of Wine was
running on 11.04, but clearly something has changed. Any help as to what to
look for and how I can get more info about the problem would be appreciated.

Regression SHA1: e1ab5f6e6bf251566289ccf3177ebaf8102cb72b
Hi,
Recent Wine versions have a bug which shows up with WinUAE, an Amiga emulator.
I tested WinUAE 2.3.3 on a system running Lubuntu 11.10 64-bit (Openbox 3.5.0
window manager) with Nvidia driver 96.43.20.
When the emulation window is partly off-screen, it stops being refreshed; the
previous image remains static. If you drag another window over the emulation
window, parts of the emulation window which are covered then exposed are just
black. Once you move the emulation window to be completely on-screen, it is
refreshed correctly again.
I tested with several versions of Wine. The bug was present in Wine 1.3.22,
1.3.24 and 1.3.25. With those Wine versions however, if I dragged the emulation
window so it was partially off the *left* edge of the screen, the window
continued to be refreshed. Dragging the window so its right or bottom parts
were off-screen, the window stopped being refreshed.
The bug was not present in Wine 1.3.26. It was present again in 1.3.27. (From
then the window stopped being refreshed whichever part is off-screen.)
To reproduce the problem:
- Download an example disk image, e.g.
http://www.amigaemulator.org/files/rsi1.adf.gz
- Download and run InstallWinUAE2330.exe. Check the box to run WinUAE at the
end.
- Click OK at the dialog box about system ROMs. The WinUAE Properties window
opens.
- Click Floppy drives, then the ... button at the top right of the window.
Choose the rsi1.adf.gz file.
- Click Start. After a while the demo will start.
- Using the mouse, drag the emulation window so it is partly off-screen,
keeping the mouse pointer held down. The window still updates correctly as long
as you keep the button pressed.
- Release the mouse button. (Lots of fixmes are printed saying
"fixme:d3d_surface:wined3d_surface_blt Blit clipping not implemented.") Notice
the window is no longer updated. Move the window back on-screen again.
A regression test between 1.3.26 and 1.3.27 gave this result:
e1ab5f6e6bf251566289ccf3177ebaf8102cb72b is the first bad commit
commit e1ab5f6e6bf251566289ccf3177ebaf8102cb72b
Author: Henri Verbeet <hverbeet(a)codeweavers.com>
Date: Sun Aug 21 21:34:55 2011 +0200
wined3d: Don't allow blits with an invalid destination rectangle when a
clipper is set either.
Clippers don't really work. Previously we mostly didn't run into this
because
the rectangle was already rejected by ddraw_surface7_Blt(), although
ddraw_surface7_BltFast() might have been affected in a couple of cases. We
should of course implement clippers, but until that happens, completely
rejecting the blit is better than introducing memory corruption.
This fixes a regression introduced by commit
92e616f355ded5f3634625dba245e9b437e3ad6a.

To register, you have to do Help / Register, type in your key, and click

Sure enough, clicking that button seems to do nothing.
Annoyingly, the app's main menu was detached when I ran it, and
the floating main menu was behind all the windows. So if you
can't find the Help menu, try closing the app's inner windows.

Final Fantasy 7 worked perfectly provided you use Aali's OpenGL patch (see the

However it recently started to fail at startup time. A bisect reveals the
following:

Unfortunately reverting this commit on today's master produces a lot of
conflicts, so I couldn't test that.
It does not appear to crash, it simply exits, so there is no backtrace to
provide. The one thing it does output is the following fixme several times:
fixme:alsa:AudioClient_GetMixFormat Don't know what to do with 10000 channels,
pretending there's only 2 channels
I'm not sure if this fixme is relevant, but it is present both on working and
non-working runs.

I have some mysterious lag when working with foobar2000 version 0.9.4.4
When having windows (opened by foobar2k itself) open, like the file property
dialogue, or a file scan result window and I close this particular window
SOMETIMES (not always) I have some serious lag. Which means I click the
X-button, and at first nothing happens.
Now I can do different things:
1) Sometimes moving the mouse around triggers window closing
2) Sometimes dragging the still open window around triggers closing
3) Pushing the X a second time sometimes does the trick
I didn't notice this with wine-0.9.56, so it seems to be a regression. I'm
still trying to figure out some actions to always reproduce the problem, but
currently I'm not successful.
This problem is not bound to CPU usage. It also appears when the CPU is idling
at 99%.
Gonna try a bisect, but as I know no way to accurately reproduce it...
Someone with similar problems? Maybe not only fb2k?
Thanks,
Tobias

seems to be caused by a call to the undeclared function _getlocaltime64.

The error seems to be related to the recent switch to the new version of Gecko
introduced in 1.3.33 (BYOND makes heavy use of internal browser windows) as

The client works pretty well in 1.3.32 (I have since started using PlayOnLinux

I am using Ubuntu 11.04 natty and the Wine PPA - I reinstalled mfc42, vcrun6,

Master's Series 151), but was also available from the developer. Direct
download
http://web.archive.org/web/20030414104125/http://www.pixelsplash.com/drone1…
The demo can also be downloaded from
http://www.fileplanet.com/42878/40000/fileinfo/Drone-v1.01
The game tries to use 320x200 full-screen mode. With Wine in Virtual Desktop
mode, the game runs in a 320x200-pixel window. However, if Wine is *not* in
virtual desktop mode, it fails saying
err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found
320x200x8 @0! (XRandR)
According to xrandr, the lowest available resolution is 320x240 (on my system
with Nvidia driver version 96).
It would be good if Wine could, when a program tries to use a resolution lower
than the lowest available, use the lowest available resolution and centre the
image in that. So in this case, Wine would set the screen resolution to 320x240
and display the game in the middle 200 lines.

This also happens only when virtual desktop emulation is DISABLED.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install NFS Most Wanted in clean wineprefix
2. Run: WINEDEBUG=-all wine speed.exe
3. Go to Challenge Series
4. Start pursuit
5. Finish challenge
6. Game will crash on wine 1.3.37, on wine 1.3.36 it was okay

Summary: Mozart11 window size not adjustable
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.36
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: let02do(a)earthlink.net
Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 38288
--> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=38288
Wine console output
Unlike the ordinary behavior in Windows, under wine Mozart11's
main workspace window can't be adjusted to an intermediate
size by dragging with the cursor. This is true even when Mozart
is run in an virtual window, and with the "Allow the window manager
to control the window" box checked or unchecked.
This functioned in wine-1.3.34 but does not in wine-1.3.36-72-g8d66ca1
There were some versions before 1.3.34 with similar problems. Ordinarily in
Windows, with the cursor positioned on an edge of the window, by holding
down the mouse's left click button one can drag that edge out or in to get a
larger or smaller window.
Unfortunately, the intervening wine version since 1.3.34 caused
Mozart to crash on start up until that bug #29505 was fixed with
1.3.36-72-g8d66ca. Now, with the crash bug fixed an inability to
re-size the window can be seen in 1.3.36-72-g8d66ca. Bisection
seems like a confusing option since the intervening points tend
to crash...
While bisecting from 1.3.34 to 1.3.36-72-g8d66ca , there were "good"
points where Mozart did not crash. So, suppose for this new bug a
"good" point was assigned to a place where there is _both_ no crash
and the window is re-sizable--but then bad points always have a crash.
I don't see any way to distinguish if a bad point is a crash + a good re-size
or a crash + a bad re-size , so one side of the bisection is always in doubt.
:-(

It hangs when run
wine dn.exe
but runs successfully (as far I could test it by copying some files) by
wineconsole dn.exe
I use wine-1.3.37.

Still present in wine 1.3.37
I can't play STEINS;GATE because of this. Only black screen when OP starts with
no option to skip it. Native quartz doesn't work with 1.3.37 either. Segfault
when movie starts.
My wine compiled without gstreamer. If it matters.

Created attachment 38498
--> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=38498
Don't create DIB sections for all surfaces with the gdi backend
A proper fix would probably look somewhat like this patch. It seems to work,
but I haven't thought through all the possible side effects it might have, so I
don't think it is a good idea for Wine 1.4. Age of Empires 2, which calls
GetDC, works too, so the patch isn't completely broken.
I think we should keep the gdi backend around, but declare it unsupported,
similarly to the ARB shader backend. We need it for situations where GL isn't
available(e.g. xvnc), but we have no test coverage for it. (This should be
discussed on wine-devel though)

Demo starts fine with current git
This bug could be closed as FIXED.
The flickering occurs also with my Nvidia card. But this bug should deserve a
new bug report.

I have reupped this hoping that anyone else can retest because the application
started in my intel graphics with severe flickering. Maybe in nvidia/ati this
bug is fixed.

Friendly reminder of 2 years without new posts. Is this still a problem in
1.3.37? Megaupload links are no longer available.

I think this is a legitimate flaw in the gdi ddraw renderer. Perhaps we should
get rid of the gdi ddraw renderer, or perhaps we should make it unsupported.
But until we actually make that decision we should at least fix the
regressions.

I am closing this bug because the opengl ddraw renderer should fix this
problem. If you configure wine to use the gdi renderer you can set the video
memory limit as well. Please retest the mouse issue and open a bug report for
it if it still exists.
