program output before freezing
i believe this happens with any program that does audio input, but i'm focusing
on dn-famitracker since it was where i first noticed the issue.
i have isolated the faulty commit to exactly
https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/commit/f7044c4b8f3ab02ca8070cb37c7cc9….
reverting it in 10.11 fixes the freeze entirely.

I submitted test results for Time of Defiance
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=8261) with an
invalid Wine Version number (1.1.45). The form accepted my submission, and I
was later emailed that my results had been added (perhaps because I was the
submitter, perhaps because I am the maintainer of the version). Now
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=8261&iTestingI…
displays my new results in the "Selected Test Results" box, but on no page are
the details of the results visible in the "Test Results" box.
I expect two fixes are required here. First, more input validation on the
submission page. Second, whatever is preventing this entry from showing up
under Test Results.

Since the cursor changes on winewayland in wine 10.12, I see a regression when
playing Saints Row 3 Remastered (GOG).
After some time in game, the mouse cursor no longer appears when switching to
the menu. When that happens, the log is filled with:

[... keeps repeating ...]
The game normally switches between hidden and visible mouse cursor when
accessing the menu or in-game phone screen.
Except from that the game keeps running, just without visible mouse cursor.
It doesn't trigger immediately, which makes testing not so easy. Most of the
time it runs fine for something between half an hour and an hour. For that
reason I can't say if other applcations are affected too, since I didn't test
anything else long enough.
It did not happen in wine 10.11, and I could not reproduce it after reverting

STDOUT/STDERR log when warcraft-iii-reforged-1.33.0.19194 is starting an
switching to black main menu
Last night (2022-08-18) Blizzard released an update for Warcraft III Reforged
from version 1.32.x to 1.33.0.19194.
Since then the main menu of the game is just black!
But I can hear the sound of the main menu.
I attached a STDOUT/STDERR log.
Version 1.32.x of the game was running fine using wine-staging-7.14.
(didn't test any other wine version before)
Wine versions I just tried:
wine-staging-7.14
wine-staging-7.15
wine-devel-7.15
OS: Debian-11
Wine: https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/debian/
GPU: Radeon RX 590
Neither standard Wine D3D11 OpenGL based implementation (WineD3D) nor DXVK is
working.

I understand that following 1.2 .po file are going to be used, so this should
be easier to resolve then.
Philippine English follows American English rules, but currently defaults to
pick up SUBLANG_NEUTRAL which is British English. It should be picking up
SUBLANG_DEFAULT for American English.
I'm not sure if this can be changed before the introduction of .po files but
it's not urgent.

Summary: Strings are a confusing mix or US and British English

The strings in the Wine code are a confusing mix of British
(International/Commonwealth) English and US English.
Why does this matter?
Each variant of English has its own rules around the spelling of certain words.
colour/color
cancelled/canceled
moveable/moveable
and so on...
As there is no standard, each dialect of English will need its own translation
file (.po).
If there is standard usage of one or the other (US or British) then fewer
translations are needed, as Wine will simply default back to that standard
English (SUBLANG_NEUTRAL or SUBLANG_DEFAULT?)
Examples:
#: dlls/mferror/mferror.mc:473
msgid "Media format was recognized but is invalid.\n"
(US English)
#: programs/reg/reg.rc:131
msgid "reg: The registry operation was cancelled\n"
(British English)
I spoke with someone a few years back (I'm pretty sure it was Alexandre) on IRC
(Freenode) but those logs are long gone, or very hard to find. From what I
recall the "standard English" chosen was British. This makes sense as en_US.po
exists for the US English translations.
I am happy to make the necessary changes to standardise the use of English, but
I just want to be 100% sure which standard we are now using, as it may have
changed since I last asked.
Note that some dialects need their own .po files anyway because they really are
a confusing mix of British and US.
It seems like Windows defaults to US English. However, US English is only used
by the US and the Philippines, so it would require significantly less effort to
default to British English.
This confusing table gives a hint of the scope:

A recent change has made submitting a new test result list all versions of
Wine, whereas before it was only the last few and the stable release.
I'm guessing a0e96bdcdbb5f3b950574685d9d9a66c9e9985a9 may be the commit in
question.

If an app has no maintainers, it shows "comments disabled", and one cannot
enter new comments. This is useful, because no one would moderate them.
However, it would still be useful to see the backlog of old comments, which may
contain hints and workarounds posted by users (when there still were
maintainers).
