For those interested, it is possible to use a third party application called Honkers Railway Launcher to play HSR. It may be possible for someone with more talent than me in this area to look into implementing whatever the Honkers Railway Launcher does into Wine to fix this issue.
It modifies the game, which is not something the wine project can do legally nor advocate
