Matteo looked into this, and found an issue with fglrx, although it's not
entirely clear if it's an actual bug or not. (See
http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=426.) Unfortunately previous experience
makes it somewhat unlikely that that bug report will get a reply. Your best
option is probably to give the r600g driver a try, the game is supposed to work
there, although performance isn't quite optimal.
