Wine >= 9.18~jammy-1 from https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/dists/jammy/
depend on several libav* libraries which conflict with the dependencies of
Audacity, GIMP and VLC.

This seems to be a multiarch issue specific to this Ubuntu that prevents
libavutil56 and libavutil56:i386 to be installed together?

Fwiw libavutil57 and other FFmpeg libraries can be cross installed without
issue on Debian stable.

Hmm, I'm able to install both amd64/i386 .deb from Ubuntu jammy at the same
time on my Debian, so it's not that.

Could you try whether `apt install libavutil56 libavutil56:i386` works?

Our packages are built with the dependencies provided in the Ubuntu main and
universe repositories. The usual cause of this type of error is that the user
has installed something from a PPA that uses a newer version of a dependency
and does not provide the matching i386 package--apt requires the i386 and amd64
versions of a package to be the same. The usual solution is to go back to the
version provided by the distro.

Installed libvdpau1:i386 and re-installed depending apps

Thank you for clarifying. libvdpau1:i386 (>= 0.2) was not installable without
removing the previously mentioned apps. Afterwards, the apps could be
reinstalled without any issue. From what I can see, they're the same version
that I already had installed previously - but possibly with the difference of
one dependency.

Issue solved. User error (although the user does not know when or how this
happened).
