windowd threads and winelib

Hi I want to compile a windows application with winelib. The application uses threads (_beginthreadNT with bcc, _beginthreadex with gcc/mingw). The necessary Headerfile "process.h" is in /usr/include/wine/msvcrt. I learned, the the glibc-Library is incompatible with MS-Threads. Now - which C-Library i have to use? STLport? I'm shure that i'm not the only one with the problem. Guides? FAQ? Should I use an alternate implementation of the thread functions with pthreads?

Good idea, just did that. That seems to work fine, so GCC / glibc is not the problem. (I found that Portage doesn't activate the new GCC, it only installs it. So the only actual upgrade was to glibc, and that was a minor bump from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 according to the install log.. Anyway.) > If not, git-bisect should help you find the offending changeset. Doing that just now, thanks. (Takes forever, I wonder if "make clean" at each step is really necessary..)

Indentifying Unicode scripts

As part of implementing uniscribe, I am looking at breaking down strings into their various unicode scripts (ie. numeric, arabic etc). The first step is to identify the scripts in the string. The simple approach is for me to code some ranges and check which script a character belongs to. I am wondering if there is some other method to identify scripts that I should use that is wine conformant. Jeff

Company is simplier and in more common usage and its likely that people will look at the box, see a company name and be able to match it to this field. They won't have any idea about publisher, vendor, distributor or developer, they'll just pick the biggest name other than the name of the program and likely go with that. Also, if everyone wants to make this change and is serious about it then we should also rename the database columns and fix up the sql as well to keep these names in sync, otherwise people maintaining the appdb code will somehow have to know that each instance of 'vendor' is really something else like 'x'. Punkbuster Support

Do we currently have a team working with evenbalance to test punkbuster support under wine? If not, is there anyone who would be interested in forming a team to troubleshoot/develop punkbuster compatibility under wine? According to the transgaming forums cedega is currently working with punkbuster to fix any problems that arise with punkbuster, and It would be nice if we could do the same.

You'll want to make these functions static member functions of the version class. Since we can't really mark them static with php4 that means just putting them in the version class and making sure they don't refer to $this. There should be other examples of this with calls to functions in the maintainer class in sidebar_admin.php. Printing to a file

Currently, using the Wine supplied print dialog, printing to a file results in a file named "FILE:". In Windows (at least Win2k) a simple one line dialog box is put up where the filename can be typed in. I don't see a reason why a full Save As dialog would not be preferable; some programs override the standard dialog with a full Save As dialog. It looks to me like the correct place to do this is in gdi/printdrv.c CreateSpoolFile(). So I have tried adding the attached patch to the function to play with, adding comdlg32 to the libraries in the makefile. But the call to GetSaveFileNameW(&ofn) crashes. I guess the first question is whether it is ok to call that from printdrv. And if so, is there an example of how to do it correctly?
