The price of admission to Wineconf

Hi Folks, Say, we've been very fortunate; WRS, CodeWeavers, and Lingnu have all offered cash assistance for Wineconf, and many, many people are also providing volunteer services. This means that there will be no fees beyond your own travel and hotel costs, and you may even get a free lunch or two out of the deal. But here's the catch: we need a sizable fraction of attendees to stay through to the bitter end, and help with the cleanup. The University of Stuttgart is generously going to let us use their space all weekend; but it needs to be pristine by 8:00 am on Monday. So, I would like everyone to make a mental note that when we officially adjourn on Sunday, that you should stick around and help make sure everything is clean and orderly. Thanks! Jer

Live streaming

Hello guys, I'll be bringing a webcam to wineconf, and a mic, the picture won't be very good but people should be able to follow what's going on. We'll be using a laptop for the stream, even if we don't know who's one it will be yet, anyway if you have experience in doing this sort of stuff your help would be appreciated. Ivan.

Hello all, since I'm in Karlsruhe, with my parents living close to Stuttgart university, I want to take several days off for wine conference preparations (and possibly cleanup). Could someone give me a rough figure of when I should take some days off and how many? For now I'm thinking of 28. (Thu), 29. (Fri) and possibly 02. (Mon). Hi all, This is your last chance to get your very own PGP key signed by your community. So far, we have 6.5 participants (hoping to get it to 7 by tomorrow). This means 7 brand new signatures on your PGP key. Local organisation - ideas/requirements/volunteers needed

Hello, we are starting the local organisation of wineconf in Stuttgart now and I propose to form a (small) local organisation group consisting of people with a good feeling for the requirements of the conference. It would be very helpful if especially some people from the region of Stuttgart would join this group and contribute their ideas. Questions are i.e. - suitability of the rooms reserved (there are some alternatives) - which kind of food is wanted - other support (technical and non-technical) - (other questions/ideas you may have) Would people from this list who are willing to join this group please send me a private E-Mail? I propose that members of the group living nearby Stuttgart will meet at the university to check the environment and will send an invitation for such a meeting. PGP signing party

Last year's raving success (I exchanged keys with Marcus) gives appetite for more. So, if you always wanted to have a PGP key that most of the free software will know [1]. If you wanted to be able to carry out encrypted secure conversations online. Or if you just want a chance to brag about what well connected key you have [2]. We will (try) to hold a PGP key signing party at wineconf this year. In order to participate, it is positively absolutely necessary that you: 1. Have a PGP key. You can generate one for yourself using gpg. 2. Send the PGP key finger print to me AT LEAST A WEEK BEFORE THE CONFERENCE. Any later then that, and it is not certain that we'll manage to get your key on the printed piece of paper that is necessary for carrying out the party. 3. Bring a copy you can trust to wineconf, to make sure other people are really signing your key (i.e. - that I'm not pulling anybody's leg). 4. Bring an identifying ID to wineconf. Two is preferable. Passport or a driver license in a language people can read. If you can only bring one, a passport is definitely preferable. If your PGP key says "lord master of compiler optimization", then your passport had better say the same or no one will be able to sign your key. WineConf Agenda

I'm going to start this off with a huge apology - there's a very real chance I've asked someone to do a presentation and it's not on this list. If so, you need to email me to remind me. If you were definitely planning on presenting something because I emailed you, let me know - there's lots of space available. I know this only affects 2 or 3 people, but I tossed around a few ideas and didn't want to leave any loose ends. (Any of those items would make nice topics.) This is the initial agenda for WineConf. I hope to add a few more items, but Jeremy suggested I pull the trigger and announce it. I agree - there's enough here to fill two days and leave a lot of time for people to get together in small groups. Only the first two items are in any formal order: Alexandre - Keynote (He said he's reusing last year's slides.) Dimi - to do list / status update Steven Edwards and the ReactOS crew Charles W Stevenson - Winelib / Winelib porting / and a commercial perspective Andrew Barlett / Samba team? - Samba 4, authentication, lots of intelligent ideas Juan Lang - Wine's RPC + Samba or something like that :) Jeremy White - CXTest Jason Edmeades - DirectX 9 / wined3d / eye candy I think a full agenda would be about 11 items. If you would like to present something let me know - there's definitely space available. If you've been wondering, "There's a neat project I'd like to do if I could only get a few more people interested", well, this is the perfect time to bring it up. If there's something strategic to Wine development, this is a great time to discuss it. For example, we've had mixed feelings regarding revision control and its been suggested to bring it up as a topic. Would anyone find it useful to discuss subversion vs. arch vs. cvs? We could probably get Mike Hearn to show off how he manages patches with SVK and then let him arm wrestle Alexandre about whether arch is better. Friday night we will have an informal dinner after meeting up at the hotel. The conference will kick off Saturday morning on campus around 8am. Lunch will be provided on Saturday and Sunday as well as dinner on Saturday. There will definitely be a lot of time for informal discussion. For the Samba guys - I think there's a great opportunity to share some knowledge to prevent anyone from reinventing the wheel. If there's any topic you'd find interesting, let me know. If you'd just like to hear a specific topic from the Wine folks, we can arrange that. I was wondering if after wineconf it would be a good idea to go to Dramstadt, has ESA got anything worth visiting there? If yes, someone want to come along? Ivan.
