Greetings! I'm Bradley M. Kuhn from Software Freedom Conservancy, which is the non-profit home for the Wine project. This is my first WineConf and I'm told the list is how we all find out what's going on. Related to that, Jeremy White just came through the lobby and asked if someone would let the list the following: We have a designated table in the lobby for people to hang out this afternoon. Henri mentions as a separate matter that if you signed up for the city tours, please meet in the lobby at 14:45. There are one or two slots left for the tours if you didn't sign up. -- Bradley M. Wineconf story time - please introduce yourself

So a number of us have arrived, and are going to go walk about in the sunshine to attempt to stave off jet lag. Looks like there is a new terrace bar that might be fun later on as well. A note - this event is in large part a social event. Many of us know each other already, so if you are new, we are eager to meet you, and you should feel welcome to introduce yourself. We had an attendee in Stuttgart who sat one table over from us the whole night and never introduced himself. I was deeply embarrassed to discover that the next morning when we put on name tags. We would have loved to include him, and ever since then, I've made a point of asking new people to connect. Shoot an email if you are here but have not connected yet, and we'll find a way to make some introductions. Cheers, Jeremy

Hello everyone, My flight with American Airlines was canceled today due to mechanical problems. I have been rescheduled for the same flight plan tomorrow morning. This means that I will arrive in Amsterdam Thursday at 8:15am instead of Wednesday at 8:15am, and I will arrive in The Hague about an hour after that. Fortunately, remembering how much trouble I've had with international flights in the past, I had planned an extra day of tourism before the conference just in case. So even with a full day of delay, I should still be there for all of WineConf and some tourism besides. Looking forward to seeing you! -Alex

Parking in The Hague

I checked out where to park my car for WineConf and here is what I gathered. Parking in the city centre is pretty expensive, seems to be about 40€ per day. The cheaper alternative is to use the Park and Ride parkings on the periphery. https://www.denhaag.nl/en/parking/parking-in-the-city/park-and-ride-the-hag… * P+R Hoornwijck + tram 15 https://www.denhaag.nl/en/parking/parking-in-the-city/pr-and-tram-fast-and-… https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=17/52.04951/4.34821 This is probably the simplest solution. It's a multi-storey parking, there's one tram every 10 minutes and the trip takes about 13 minutes. The cost is 5€ for the first day, including the tram ticket, then 7.5€ per additional day and the return tram ticket on the last day. * P+R Station Ypenburg + NS Sprinter https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=16/52.0553/4.3881 The parking is free but not covered and there is video surveillance. WineConf 2018

Hi all, The Wine Project is happy to announce that WineConf 2018 will take place on June 29 - July 1 2018 in The Hague, The Netherlands. As some of you will undoubtedly be aware, this will coincide with the 25th anniversary of Wine. WineConf is the Wine Project's yearly conference, where members of the Wine community, the broader Free Software community and interested users meet up over food and drinks. We traditionally also have a number of talks by attendees, as well as some formal and informal discussions about anything vaguely Wine related. We're still working out some of the details, but since this years' WineConf will take place slightly earlier in the year than has traditionally been the case, we'd like to give everyone sufficient advance notice to make travel arrangements, in particular those of you that would need Visas to travel to The Hague. Subscribe to wineconf(a)winehq.org to stay up-to-date with further developments. Information will also get added to https://wiki.winehq.org/WineConf2018 as it becomes available. WineConf 2018 - Friday afternoon programme

Those of us that will already be in The Hague on Friday afternoon will have the opportunity to go on a guided city tour through The Hague. I'd like to encourage first-time attendees in particular to participate, since this will be a good opportunity to get to know each other ahead of the main conference. Tours take about 90 minutes, and there are two tours: "The Constitution Walk" [1] and "Dutch politics and history" [2]. We'd likely start the first tour sometime around 15:00, and if there's interest I can make a dinner reservation for the evening. This would result in the following tentative programme: 14:30 Gather at the hotel lobby 14:45 Leave the hotel lobby 15:00 Tour 1 16:45 Tour 2 18:30 Dinner Costs are € 200 per group, per tour, and groups have a maximum size of 25 persons. Depending on the group size, that would be approximately € 10–15 per person, per tour. If you'd like to participate in any of these, please let me know by sending me an e-mail at hverbeet(a)codeweavers.com with the following information before May 14: - Which of these you'd like to participate in: the "The Constitution Walk" tour, the "Dutch politics and history" tour, and/or the evening dinner. - The number of persons that will be participating. - Any restrictions on your side. WineConf and sound recording

Hi everyone, Recordings of previous wine confs have been somewhat disappointing especially the sound part: microphone buggy, people asking question too far from the micro... Some of you are native English speakers, others not and understanding everyone quickly becomes a challenge (and you ends up with a headache). May I suggest you to buy some clip-on microphones ? Handheld ones ones are heavy and people always forget to speak in it. If you wanna invest some bucks, digital recorders are the best option. If needed, I can donate those missing bucks.
