Arrival times

I think it's nice to have a list of when people are expecting to arrive.
 I'm getting in on Thursday at 1:30 pm.

I plan to hang out as late as I can stay awake on Thursday, and then be
a tourist on Friday.  I think my main plan for Friday is to hit the
Schloss Schonbrunn, and then maybe the town center a bit.  Assuming his
flight makes it okay, I think Nikolay is hoping to join me on Friday.

Then we generally gather at the hotel on Friday, usually starting in the
late afternoon.

My flight arrives Friday at 1:10pm, so I will check into the hotel at
approximately 2pm. If you are still doing touristy things around that
time, I would love to join you.

Yes, I'll be there early in the morning, flight is at 6:30, so around 9 
or a bit later somewhere at hotel I guess.

Did you check that the planned train is running?
With the current refugee drama the train service between Germany and
Austria seems to be still (partially?) suspended.

Also border controls were re-instituted between the Austrian and German
border so expect huge delays on the border when driving / going by bus.

It might make even sense to take a detour over Czech Republic when
taking the train/car between the two countries. Luckily I had to take a
flight myself due to time constraints; that is unaffected by this.

I was pleased with Edelweiß Hefeweizen and Gösser. I had a couple of
other beers too and have to agree with Stefan that all Austrian beers I
had where drinkable.

I have a colleague that doesn't has a good opinion of Ottakringer and
Schwechater but he is very picky when it comes to beer. And beer taste
is a matter of personal taste after all so don't take this as advise to
avoid those brands.

At Aric's urging, I've put up a schedule for the weekend on the Wiki
page.  Let me know if I got anything horrifically wrong.

I think it has worked well in recent years to send updates and info to
this email list.  So if a group heads to dinner and a bar and wants to
leave a 'note' for those behind, an email here should suffice.

For anyone who is new to Wineconf, one bit of advice:  come find us on
Friday.  This is very much intended as a social event, and we look
forward to meeting everyone and socializing.  (Yes, I'm still scarred by
the one year we had our guest of honor not introduce himself until
Saturday :-/).
