When you have installed and started Construct 2 (release r168) in this case, create a new project. It should look something like the attached screenshot, and whenever you try to move around, change tab or stuff that would generally have to update the layout window, nothing happens. Thus only the 32-bit dll is available and the 64-bit test is skipped. The crash happens in the following call: hr = IAssemblyCache_InstallAssembly(cache, 0, L"wine.dll", NULL); But skipping this call just moves the crash to the next InstallAssembly() call. It's not clear whether the crash is caused by the NULL RefData pointer: the crash still happens if I pass a non-NULL but pretty empty FUSION_INSTALL_REFERENCE structure (in particular szNonCannonicalData == NULL). ExtractNow is a simple looking archive extractor thing. Problem is the buttons in the main window don't do anything on mainline wine. The simple graphics modes where each particle is a circle work great, with perfect performance. The game requires no install and starts up instantly. The problem is that the higher graphics modes that use shaders do not work. I have attached a picture for an example. The fire effect is visible on top of a black screen. From previous experience I know that this caused when OE-Cake cannot recognize your graphics card, at least that's how it is caused in Windows on real hardware. I've played some pretty advanced games on WINE so I have a feeling this could be fixed somehow. An alternate failure mode that several users have reported is that the shader modes do work, but in the lower graphics modes each circle representing a particle is replaced by a square making it look like Minecraft. A prior bug 46160 was filed about NatSpeak 13 hanging up at the end of installation, and I think that bug might have been fixed in the most recent wine version, and this other bug uncovered. bug 46160 Anyway, the installation stops as of this: err:rpc:rpcrt4_protseq_np_wait_for_new_connection wait failed with error 87 I have posted the installation log. If I kill the installation and then try to start the program, the program works up to a point. It waves hello, and then asks if I want to register the program immediately or run it up to 5 times without registering. When I hit either of these options, the program crashes. Better integration, since the application run under Wine would use the native desktop file pickers, complete with the user's Places sidebar bookmarks and any other customizations they've enacted. 2. More practical security, since Wine could then be run in a filesystem sandbox, with the portal host mounting files/directories into the sandboxed environment on demand. I'd suggest a three-state option exposed through winecfg's Desktop Integration: 1. Opportunistically (Qt's approach to integrating support for XDG portals into QFileDialog provides precedent for making this the default. Forced (An option for power users to set on a per-application basis to intentionally sacrifice the application's customizations in favour of better integration with the understanding that things may break.) 3. Sources of MilkyTracker do these actions: 1) waveOutOpen(&hwo, WAVE_MAPPER, &format, 0, 0, CALLBACK_NULL); This call is a success and it returns a valid handle. 2) waveOutGetID(hwo,(LPUINT)&waveOutID); This call also returns success and it returns a value of 63 into "waveOutID". BUT THIS IS WRONG. "waveOutID" should be equal to WAVE_MAPPER, which equal to -1, as you can see in point (1). 3) waveOutGetDevCaps((UINT)waveOutID, &waveoutcaps, sizeof(waveoutcaps)); As result, this call to waveOutGetDevCaps() fails with return value of MMSYSERR_BADDEVICEID. Here there is the point where there is the code that I'm talking about: https://github.com/milkytracker/MilkyTracker/blob/4f97b7011b20519890e30368e… The cause of the trouble is the way the function waveOutGetID() is implemented. waveOutGetID() calls WINMM_GetDeviceFromHWAVE(). But with another one it doesn't. And the main difference in the logs is this error. However the audio associated with the videos is reproduced correctly with all builtin. To be able to play in game sound the game need these dlls setted to native:dsound,dmime,dmsynth,dmusic,dswave However when setting dsound as native the audio of the videos (as the intro video) is not played anymore (the video component of the video is still played perfectly). To experience this issue you need to set as native dsound.dll only. Maybe a duplicate of bug #42588, although the symptoms are different. With the previous commit the game runs much smoothly. For comparison, in Wine 2.11 I'm getting only 4-5 fps when using nvidia 381.22. Before the regression Wine gave me 32-36 fps. Steps to reproduce the issue with the demo: 1. download and install the demo, install native d3dx9_33.dll before launching the game. 2. in the main menu start a new game, click <Next> on the character selection screen, press <Skip>. You are in a training chamber: run around in the room, rotate the camera using the right mouse button and observe how sluggish the game is. You can save the game here so you can reproduce the issue more easily the next time you enter the game. (again) Application crashes It seems that if you first search does not find any result and you close the search box manually, then next searches won't crash even if you have matches. This is also something that has been happening for a while, I just decided to report it because It can affect some parts of the game, such as rated PVP. The particular error logs as follows: 05f4:err:seh:dispatch_exception unknown exception (code=c0000420) raised wineserver crashed, please enable coredumps (ulimit -c unlimited) and restart. How to reproduce: This feels 'random' but makes me _think_ it could be a memory leak issue. If you're in highly populated areas _or_ highly demanding zones, it can trigger itself. Two recent scenarios I can recall - First, doing multiple arena matches and waiting for the queue in Oribos. The crash happened specifically during arena. - Second, doing the Ashran Brawl Battleground. This battleground is very, very long and has a lot of people around. If I don't do anything and just leave the game as is without inputs it runs for quite a while without issue. But without fail, if I start making inputs the game crashes within a minute or two. A minimal test case with the necessary C code (<30 lines), the resulting .exe (compiled with MinGW) and a test .wav file is attached. An exception is thrown and the application basically locks up after canceling a print command from the application's help viewer. In bug #25873, Erich Hoover asked to be CCed on this new report. Steps to reproduce: 1. Start PAF5. 2. Select 'New' from the dialog (or the menu bar if you don't see a dialog). 3. Click on the yellow question mark on the right-hand end of the menu bar. This brings up the help viewer. 4. Click on 'Print'. 5. In the print dialog, click on 'Cancel'. 6. Back in the help viewer, click on a couple of chapter titles in the left-hand pane. 7. Observe that the help viewer and application have become unresponsive and that an exception has been printed to stdout/stderr. All other tests are running fine. Interestingly the very similar 3DMark05 benchmark is running completely error free. (This may be because the older version doesn't contain the same complex HDR PS 3.0 Shader programs.) Note, I have tested this at an 32bit and 64bit Wine prefix. The error output is: D3DXGetImageInfoFromFileInMemory failed: Invalid data (D3DXERR_INVALIDDATA) D3DXDisassembleShader failed: Ran out of memory (E_OUTOFMEMORY) The solution is to install the original 'd3dx9_28.dll' file (winetricks -q d3dx9_28). After that, everything is working as it should.
