I made few attempts to catch the moment this happens with `winedbg` to no avail. I’m using wine-staging 8.14 to test it, although I’ve tried various versions including 8.0. To reproduce this issue: 1. A simple Hello World program (console application) does not work at all (see the log file). What is strange is that this happens only on one of the 2 computers that I use. Both run the same OS (Fedora 36) with wine 7.12. The second computer run an Intel i7. The Xeon runs 2 Xeon CPU E5-2660 v4 which means it has 56 cores. Therefore I first get some warnings with regards to the number of CPU: 0024:fixme:ntdll:create_logical_proc_info Improve CPU info reporting: system supports 56 logical cores, but only 32 supported! 0024:fixme:ntdll:create_logical_proc_info skipping logical processor 33 ... 0024:fixme:ntdll:create_logical_proc_info skipping logical processor 55 I'm not sure this is an issue. Note that the binary file was compiled on the Xeon computer with a fresh cross-compiler and with -static -s option: x86_64-w64-mingw32-g++-12.1.0 -o hello_world.exe -static -s hello_world.cpp Also, when I run the binary file on the i7 computer, it runs fine (see attached log). So the binary file is fine. In addition, I can add that both computers run an Nvidia GPU but only the Xeon computer runs the nvidia proprietary driver from rpmfusion. In Windows, you can type the first characters of a word and the cursor will jump to the first item matching *all* the characters you typed. This allows you to drill down quickly to the item you want. In Wine, when you start typing it only considers the *last* character you typed when looking for a match. On listboxes where you have lots of items starting with the same character, this can make it problematic to drill down to the correct item. This may be better explained with a simple example. Pressing repeatedly TAB key does not iterate over all window elements. In ReactOS & Wine only links are selected while M$ Windows focuses buttons and checkboxes too. This issue may apply system-wide to other 3rd party applications however I noticed it first in μTorrent 2.2.1 (25302). Did not notice that using Wine apps. But in Wine 3.5, DirectX crashes in the beginning of installing and says "Internal system error occured. Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine problems". And now I have to create the game prefix by any other command like winecfg and install DirectX in this already created prefix, it doesn't crash in this way. In this application, the edit control TEdit can display a given charset. With Wine 1.7.49, this does not work. The attached image shows a demo application displaying this problem: on the left side Windows 7, on the right side Wine 1.7.49 (under Linux Mint 17.1). The charset of the five components is "EASTEUROPE_CHARSET". The yellow rectangle shows the problem with wine. P.S. As TButton is a wrapper around a Windows control, the charset does not work.
