Whenever a program uses mouse warping, a bounding box may trap it at a random time. This is temporarily resolved by causing the window to lose focus. I first knew this bug to occur on 2.4, and it may have been earlier. I knew 2.0 to work perfectly in this regard, but Steam now crashes on that version and cannot test 2.1-2.3. I've created a video demonstrating situations where this occurs. The bug has developed gradually. First version that crashes only on unplugging was 9.4. Since version 9.11 wine crashes on both plugging and unplugging. Tests were done by creating a completely new prefix for each tested version. The field value is "<HT>www.test.org<HT>x" ("<HT>" denotes a single horizontal tab character), yet Wine shows just "www.test.orgx" in the field. However, Wine clearly knows the horizontal tab characters are present, because it shows them in the text field tooltip stating (in English) "Website address<NEW LINE>[<TEXT FIELD VALUE>]". It relies on layered windows and DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea to handle the transparent display. Currently, the main UI elements show, but the game (or any other application) does not show through. This seems to be because DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea is only a stub. I'm not sure if that's the only reason it's not transparent, but it's at least one of the reasons. The program itself uses the unity3d engine along with some native dll calls to the relevant user32 apis to handle the transparency. I was able to get a copy of the relevant code (but not the whole application), of which I will attach. Since I can't get all of the code, I've been using an unity sample application to try to figure out some parts myself (the relevant code is here https://github.com/pheonise/Unity3D-Desktop-Overlay/blob/master/Assets/Scri…) This unity3d application works as expected on windows, but is not transparent via wine (as expected). When i comment the call to DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea, then it its also no longer transparent on windows as well. It seems that if the sample application works, then I can make sure the dev applies to the same technique to the overlay application. A simple Hello World program (console application) does not work at all (see the log file). What is strange is that this happens only on one of the 2 computers that I use. Both run the same OS (Fedora 36) with wine 7.12. The second computer run an Intel i7. The Xeon runs 2 Xeon CPU E5-2660 v4 which means it has 56 cores. Therefore I first get some warnings with regards to the number of CPU: 0024:fixme:ntdll:create_logical_proc_info Improve CPU info reporting: system supports 56 logical cores, but only 32 supported! 0024:fixme:ntdll:create_logical_proc_info skipping logical processor 33 ... 0024:fixme:ntdll:create_logical_proc_info skipping logical processor 55 I'm not sure this is an issue. Note that the binary file was compiled on the Xeon computer with a fresh cross-compiler and with -static -s option: x86_64-w64-mingw32-g++-12.1.0 -o hello_world.exe -static -s hello_world.cpp Also, when I run the binary file on the i7 computer, it runs fine (see attached log). So the binary file is fine. In addition, I can add that both computers run an Nvidia GPU but only the Xeon computer runs the nvidia proprietary driver from rpmfusion. In Windows, you can type the first characters of a word and the cursor will jump to the first item matching *all* the characters you typed. This allows you to drill down quickly to the item you want. In Wine, when you start typing it only considers the *last* character you typed when looking for a match. On listboxes where you have lots of items starting with the same character, this can make it problematic to drill down to the correct item. This may be better explained with a simple example.
