It has a lot of glitches and crashes very often. If it crashes, I have to select another Sound Device in the StarCraft settings to enable the sound again. Pre 1.3.19 using a mmdevapi override (disabled) was enough to enable sound. If I understand it right, bug 47808 was primarily about native libraries getting called at a win32 stack which was not yet committed. Those native libraries then jumped over the guard page, therefore the stack got not grown, instead a crash reported. This aspect was fixed by using the syscall interface and therefore bug 47808 was closed. But there is another issue that causes a msys2-forked process crashing, because after the stack was grown it still misses the PAGE_READWRITE flags. For this Zeb Figura included in the first attachement to bug 47808 "always expand the stack if within the stack reserve" a line adding the flags "VPROT_COMMITTED | VPROT_READ | VPROT_WRITE" to the page that gets the VPROT_GUARD removed in grow_thread_stack. This modification still enables a forked process to run. The issue can be reproduced with an unmodified wine by just - running msys2 bash.exe interactively - then trying to start e.g. notepad from it. Attached file shows the stack when the stack gets allocated - in a working msys2-parent process and - in a failing msys2-forked child process. However, compared to a native Windows environment (or not bridging the plugins), there is a problem when drawing the plugin UI. The plugin UI window itself is a borderless window that belongs to the bridge process, and is then set as a child of the actual plugin window that belongs to the OpenMPT process using SetParent(...). This works just fine on Windows, but in Wine, the child window remains completely black. If parts of the child window are redrawn by the bridged process, they become visible, but as soon as a redraw for the parent window is issued (e.g. by setting the focus to it), these areas become black again. Steps to reproduce: 1) Install OpenMPT. 2) Create a new module. 3) Open the plugin manager ("Select" button at the bottom of the created module's window) and add any VST plugin that provides its own UI (e.g. http://www.geocities.jp/daichi1969/softsynth/index.html#down) 4) Be sure the "Use Plugin Bridge" checkbox is checked (it is also fine if it is checked but greyed out) 5) Click "Put in FX01" to load the plugin. 6) Click the "Edit" button next to the "Select" button to open the plugin's UI. 7) The UI will be completely black, with child controls becoming occasionally visible if you click them. It happens on inconsistent intervals and will last for an inconsistent amount of time, usually five or six seconds. If an assembler is specified using --as-cmd, that program is used; otherwise the system assembler is used. Wine's build system, unfortunately, does not allow the user to set the assembler to pass to winebuild. The usual way to set the assembler to use is to set the AS variable, but the build system does not respect it. This is a problem, for example, on Mac OS X when building with Clang with its integrated assembler turned on. Clang's integrated assembler supports .cfi directives, but the system assembler doesn't. During configure, a test file containing .cfi directives is passed to the compiler, on the assumption that it would be then passed to the system assembler. With Clang's integrated assembler, this assumption is broken. Thus, when winebuild tries to assemble files containing .cfi directives (because it believes that the system assembler supported them), it fails as a result. Tried it both in 64bit and 32bit prefixes in windows 7, XP, 2000 and 98 modes and also disabling csmt.I've added a winedebug=warn+all log below. A demo 60 min trial can be found at the link above. (U+1F972) or ???? (U+1F970). Crashes happen with all kinds of text boxes, including username in the login dialog, search box and messaging dialog. Crash does not happen if I uninstalled the Noto Color Emoji font [2]. Without WINEDEBUG, crashes are intermittent. With WINEDEBUG=+font, I always get crashes. The issue can be reproduced with a trivial Qt application (source attached). The backtrace from a Qt 5.12.12 MinGW debug build [3] is also attached. >From the backtrace, Qt crashes when trying to get the string from otm->otmpFullName [4]. In a gdb session, the address (otm + otm->otmpFullName) points to an invalid address (needs to add otm per [5]). Apparently GetOutlineTextMetrics does not correctly assign that pointer.
