Now, fitgirl repacks crashes at random progress, while rg-mechanics repacks are straight to the error, the same as always. I read that in the past this was fixed so that's a regression but since no-one has reported this and apparently no one has that problem, I'm filing this bug as normal. For the record: this bug happens since I installed linux, at the time Wine was at version 6.0. As I check the console output, I get *massive spam* of the following message: err:d3d:wined3d_debug_callback 0x8aea440: "GL_INVALID_OPERATION error generated. Query object not found.". It repeats over and over again until I need to kill the executable. The latest log file I saved, I counted that this error message was repeated over 18.3 MILLION times (yes, you read it right), making the log file itself almost 2GB at size. Only, and only this single message was repeated, nothing else. Console output before the spam was as showed in the attachment. I'm sorry I don't provide the full log, since it contains over 20 000 lines of text. If someone sees that important, please let me know. Basically, the lines showed in the attachment were repeated over and over again from the very beginning, until the massive spam of that 'GL_INVALID_OPERATION' error appeared just before the game were accessing in-game menu which contains DX11 graphics. Used configuration: Wine 2.4 git + Wine-staging-git, no dll overrides, clean 64-bit prefix. No CSMT or any other Staging related stuff enabled in winecfg. Enter a pilot name then select a job and voilà... you are in the cockpit with psychedelic textures everywhere. This setting is saved in the registry: `HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Activision\Spider-Man (TM) SD\Settings\Display\AspectRatio` 1 for 4:3, 2 for 16:10, 3 for 16:9. ### What the game is supposed to do (first launch) On Windows and on Wine Wayland, when launching the game for the first time (that is, when the registry key doesn't exist), that key is `NtSetValueKey`ed to 4 (a value that seems intentionally invalid), then it is `NtSetValueKey`ed to the appropriate value. ### What happens instead on Wine X11 (first launch) On Wine X11 (or XWayland), `NtSetValueKey` for "AspectRatio" is only called once to set it to 4, and it stays as such. (Which makes the game 4:3.) That probably means that whatever the game needs to do before the second `NtSetValueKey` fails. #### Symptoms of the issue You may wonder: "Since the Aspect Ratio option is exposed in the in-game settings, can't you adjust them there?". However, due to the game being poorly coded, this issue may make the game stuck in an unsupported resolution, causing a chain reaction of issues that makes the game unable to change all graphics settings, and sometimes it even makes the game unable to render the title screen, crashing when starting a level. Manually editing the "AspectRatio" key after the first launch doesn't solve all issues: it may still be impossible to change all graphics settings. This probably means that the game depends on "getting" the display's aspect ratio even if the registry key is set. ### Logs I don't know what channels should the logs contain. The initial issue during tests some releases ago was that mouse control wasn't working but a staged patch could be applied which fixed the issue and got integrated into main wine. https://github.com/wine-compholio/wine-staging/tree/master/patches/dinput Unfortunately a new issue has sprung up in the game which is that when I move the mouse it has some redrawing issues and paints the background. Writing an expression like: (2+x)/(x^2-3) will be showed as (2+x)}(x^2-3). Note the "/" is changed by "}", but double "//" is correctly showed as "//". Also Pressing x² makes Mathematica crashes just becouse the correct expression is x^2 and not x² or x³. Also there seems to be some conditions for the "/" to be drawed, like if it is preceded by a variable o number: see 1/x or x/(x-3) then the "/" will be drawed, but if is is preceded by a ) or ] then "}" will be drawed: (x-3)/x or Sin[x]/x. Thats wear. - Mathematical representation is badly printed. When you enter expressions like (2+x)/(x^2-3) Mathematical has the really nice feature of showing this as a nice looking fraction. Also it can represent it with ascii characters if you choose that, but with wine, it doesn't shows the goodlooking expression and shows a terrible badly drawed ascii expression. Just to say, "1/x" can not be readed with this expression. But i am not entirely sure when and why. Trying a bit furder and i can get some examples which are correctly drawn: Sqrt[x-3] (x-3)^2//Expand But a fraction will not be correctly displayed: (2+x)/(x^2-3) Maybe this has something to do with the first error that mathematica will show a "}" instead of a "/": (2+x)}(x^2-3) All this errors were tested on ubuntu 7.10 AMD64 and with wine 0.9.55 (becouse .56 is not available yet for ubuntu on your repos) and with all builtin dlls, but also some natives does the same results. It is only one of other errors of Mathematica. I have no logs for that. Cheers. I have been running ddrescue non-stop for a few days now and data is slowly being recovered. This means the CDROM drive is permanently busy at all times with a disk that is unreadable and unmountable under normal circumstances (this is important). When I try to launch a wine application via Wine I find that Wine attempts to access the CDROM drive, I can hear the CDROM drive making noises as if starting/stopping but nothing ever happens, can hear the drive clicking as in starting and stopping, the wine application I'm trying to run never start, I can see some wine .exe processes in D state, I guess waiting for the CDROM drive to become available. I can see this in the console: 0058:err:sync:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 000000006CDCB040 "dlls/mountmgr.sys/device.c: device_section" wait timed out in thread 0058, blocked by 0064, retrying (60 sec) It seems that when a drive is unreadable or inaccessible wine freezes and continually re-tries access to the drive. This also means that Wine interferes with ddrescue when trying to access the CDROM drive, because the disk is unreadable and both applications try to access no Wine application ever starts, and if it does (winecfg) it freezes, so I end in a situation Wine doesn't work and it bothers ddrescue. Is there a way to start Wine applications making them ignore the CDROM Drive? In the Wine control panel I can get rid of the Z drive for example but not the CDROM drive... I also tried to go into the Wine prefix under "dosdevices" and removed: d:: -> /dev/sr0 Then tried to link d:: to /dev/null but wine recreates the link to the drive as e:: -> /dev/sr0 and tries to access the CDROM again.
