I've tried VG2 with an old version of wine and also 0.9.7 & 0.9.8. The installer works, puts stuff in a Vg directory, and the program transitions into Vg/VirtuaGirl2.exe - 99 times out of 100 this puts up a new X-window with an icon then falls over - but just occasionally it transitions though this and 'works' (same jerky display that VG1 used to give, by the sound of things). So that's a duplicate of bug 4482. When i run with native msvcrt, and after doing 'touch ~/.wine/drice_c/windows/system32/opengl32.dll' (see bug 3877) it runs just fine. However if you don't create the fake opengl32 file, it looks like it tries to start it in DirectX mode.
