Well, it works on Win2000 native... You have to set the Desktop Color Depth to
256 Colors.

Summary: Command and Conquer The First Decade installer makes
windows behind the main one
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-msi
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ben(a)atomnet.co.uk
It wouldn't be so much of a problem but the main window seems to be stuck to
"always on top" so you can't bring anything above it, even worse you can't move
it either, so when the window to enter the CD keys comes up or any other window
you have to right click on the gnome task bar (or whatever WM you're using)
select move and then try and stick it (the new window) in a corner, praying you
can see enough of it for you to be able to fill in or read whatever is there.

Summary: mdac-2.8 installer fails on first run
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
URL: http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/ref/mdac/downloads/
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: download
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-msi
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
To repeat:
download the mdac-2.8 installer (need real windows to do this at the moment)
download fakeie.sh from http://kegel.com/fakeie.sh.txt
rm -rf ~/.wine
notepad (and quit, just to create ~/.wine. Yes, this is lame.)
fakeie.sh
wine mdac_typ.exe
mdac-2.8's installer mdac_typ.exe fails on the first run with error
err:setupapi:SetupDefaultQueueCallbackW copy error 32
L"C:\\windows\\temp\\IXP000.TMP\\msdaorar.dll" -> L"c:\\Program Files\\Common
Files\\System\\OLE DB\\msdaorar.dll"
and puts up a dialog box saying
Setup cannot be completed because an error was encountered during setup.
Please contact your software vendor for more information.
c:\windows\dasetup.log contains multiple
complaints about not being able to load syssetup.dll.
Running it a second time lets it complete, oddly.
(Don't know if the resulting install is actually correct yet.)

I used git as of that date and I used absolutely no dll overrides. Can't
remember whether I used a clean .wine directory.
