I restarted my computer a few times and tested this fix. It seems that you are
correct, and that restarting the computer and flushing the video "junk" corrects
the crashing issue.
HOWEVER, there is STILL (even after a fresh restart or two and JUST running WoW)
the flickering in the lower-left-hand corner. I have tried it with and without
the nVidia patch, and both yield the flickering. Any answers?

fisku.exe is not a part of this installation. I've checked the installation cab
itself and the msi database along with the logs. As can happen sometimes, the
developers probably just forgot to remove the reference to this particular
executable from the database. Marking the original bug fixed.

Can you do a regression test, to see what exact patch broke it (perhaps after
retesting with latest cvs/git, perhaps it's already fixed)?
What does it use in hw mode? d3d? which version?

Great! How about sending a patch to fix it, or a test case showing the problem?

Can you retry with current git/cvs? As commit
59dc73b911e762495735e2ff6ed63b35a90cde21 (x11drv/opengl: Pixel format rewrite.)
changes that part of the code?

Can you try this again with a fresh .wine? I'm not getting this error.
However, about halfway through the install, the installation aborts because we
can't seem to load msvcr80.dll, which is required by the installation-supplied
utlsrf07.dll which is required by the installation-supplied mnysetup.dll.
msvcr80.dll is included with the installation and installed correctly into
c:\windows\winsxs\...\ but we can't seem to find or load it for whatever
reason. winsxs is where windows installs side-by-side dlls. These dlls are
supposed to be determined by the manifest file in the application directory. I
assume this is extra functionality that we'll need to implement in order for
this to work. Changing to wine-binary, as that seems fitting for the problem.

Please reboot your PC and try again. Video drivers known for loosing lots of
video memory. Especially when Wine crashes multiple times.
