I have only demos of HL1 and MaxPayne1 here, and they don't show the
regression.
Are there any other (preferably smaller in size) games that show it?

I forgot to mention that I'm using precompiled debian (I'm running Debian
unstable here) binaries, sorry for that.
The following packages/versions are installed:
ii libwine 0.9.28-1
ii libwine-gl 0.9.28-1
ii wine 0.9.28-1
ii wine-utils 0.9.28-1
ii winesetuptk 0.7-1.1
ii xwine 1.0.1-1
ii fontforge 0.0.20061019-1
So you mean this fontforge support isn't compiled in (or whatever) by default in
the binaries? Do I need to compile this beast myself just to get any text to
work at all?
Thanks for your patience,
Werner

Actually, ignore comment 18. I feel like I ran into a heisenbug here. (ok maybe
my computer is having issues?)
Using wine-git, I did the following:
1) create a clean .wine directory
2) copy the flash player .msi file to the c: drive
3) run the msi installer.
The initial dialog box always pop up, but when I hit next, sometimes it succeeds
and sometimes it immediately crashes. FWIW, it feels as though earlier versions
like 0.9.24 succeeds more than later versions.

No, changing that line actually makes StarCraft block even longer. The trick
with moving the mouse doesn't work either in that case. I think that fix
actually fixes StarCraft, and there's another error that still causes a slight
delay.

I've been playing Heroes III Complete extensively on wine-0.9.28, it works
well. Must be a FreeBSD-specific problem.
Alex, you can get someone to tar up their GIT repository and mail it to you for
regression testing.

I regression tested my Warcraft 3 bug to this patch:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-cvs/2006-December/028326.html
If I comment out the line:
shutdown( get_unix_fd(sock->fd), SHUT_RDWR );
in server/sock.c, then it starts to work again.
Please test this against Starcraft as I don't have the game.
Ironically, this patch is there to fix another disconnection timeout bug in
Warcraft :-)
