How is it working with a Wine version of around 0.9.47? We have had great
sound improvements lately.

OK now I am seeing the problem, too. I suppose it might be because I increased
the graphics settings a bit since I got a new card.

Summary: Portal crashes when creating a portal
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.47.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: waninkoko(a)gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=8586)

Crash log
Everytime I try to create a new portal, the game crashes. I tried this with
older wine versions (0.9.41 and 0.9.46) and this doesn't occur. Also, I tried
different video configurations.
I'm not sure but I think with dx 9.0 works fine (but I get strange texture
colors).

Actually I think Wine handles IPX quite well, especially considering that IPX
doesn't even seem to be available on all versions of XP. :)
It requires root privileges for some games, like the C&C ones, but the IPX
provider for DirectPlay can be run as a normal user. I don't know what Dune
2000 does to fuck that up.

Oops! I didn't finish my thought in the second sentence in my first reply.
I have bison version 1.75. Thanks for the wine version correction. By
the way, when I added the semicolon on line 517 everything worked fine.

I have to admit that IPX networking isn't a strong part for Wine. As IPX needs
root privileges on Linux, it's not usually run, and there's not even tests for
it.
I wonder if there's some way to hack dplay to run over IP even if it claims to
use IPX for the game. That'd at least make wine<->wine gaming work.

The window is now "managed". It has a titlebar with a minimize icon on it which
works. It is also not on top of other windows any more. I tried the client both
in window mode and full screen mode and it didn't display on top of them. It
still doesn't close by itself though for the 2d client, but the UO:KR loading
dialog does.
I made a simple script that I execute once the login screen is displayed that
closes the loading dialog.

#!/bin/sh
killall UO.exe
