Distro: Ubuntu 7.04
Linux Kernel: 2.6.23-rc5
Wine version: your latest (0.9.44~winehq0~ubuntu~7.04-1)
Hi,
I just upgraded my kernel from 2.6.23-rc3 to 2.6.23-rc5 (I compile my own
vanilla from kernel.org) and an application I use quite a lot (viz.
NoteWorthyComposer) stopped working.
With -rc3 it started very well; with -rc5 it shows a fixme message (below) and
hangs.
Teh foxme message (don't know if it's related):
fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly
L"Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls"
What can I do to provide more details?
Thanks
Cyril

I am trying to run psshutdown.exe with wine.
X command works and logs into the machine and shuts it down on windows. However
that same command has a "Access Denied" error msg.
I get:
fixme:mpr:WNetAddConnection2A (0x33f14c, 0x41b4c0, "admin", 0x00000000): stub
The parameters for that function, at least what I found, said "ptr str str
long". It looks like it is passing ptr ptr str long instead.
I think the parameters are incorrect.I am using the latest version marked
currently stable.
Thanks for your time and expertise on this matter. :)

A mini Makefile to demonstrate the problem. You can use other commands like
msiexec or the like.
I tried to use nmake.exe in Wine with some simple Makefiles and found,
that redirecting the output of a cmd.exe-built-in (like echo or dir)
into a file works perfect but when I call in a make rule a real
external program and try to direct its output into a file, the output
appears on screen, the file is created but it is empty.
Just to explain my use case: I installed ActivePerl for Windows in Wine
and tried to install some more Perl modules downloaded as source from CPAN.
All Perl module Makefiles call perl.exe several times and redirect its
output to append something to a file. And this does not work.

Summary: Half-Life 2 bad performance if wide areas are in sight
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.45.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: d1m1(a)gmx.ch
since commit ad692f2a83c11ba0c9bb1d0e21d4d95029a65942
hl2 has worse performance, especially in wide areas. (also wide areas without
many polygons)
It seems that maps without wide areas run okay and it seems that performance is
also good if you just look at a near wall.
and it seems that if you undo the commit in wine-0.9.45 that there are fewer
shadows (like in version 0.9.44), but during regression testing i also
encountered a configuration with more shadows than 0.9.44 and good performance.
(not yet sure, i have to check the shadows again and if 0.9.45 really has more
shadows than 0.9.44)
On 0.9.45 switching off all effects (shadows, shaders etc) doesn't have an
effect.
system configuration:
Debian Etch x86
nvidia 7900 gtx, driver 100.14.11
AMD X2 5200
2 GB RAM
