The fix for the opengl child window rendering bug 2398 requires modern video
drivers support 'Redirected GL windows using' which requires Composite +
OpenGL. At the moment Nvidia supports this and the latest intel drivers and
some GIT versions of other drivers.
So if you are not using an nvidia card then that is the problem.

Not the case. Wine does not support any hardware drivers.

This is NOT fixed. It might work with the really old versions of the Hammer
editor (pre 2004). But the current Hammer version is still bugged. If you open
a map you just get a black window. So again this is not fixed.

Problem was probably because of microphone support, it drops fps to 1 or 2 if
alsa is used in counterstrike. This is no longer the case, so I'm closing the
bug.

Tested, in HL2DM, yeah it still crashes. Sorry I should have tested some more
source games.
Also - all testing I've done throughout this bug has been offline in CSS, and
has always reproduced the crash up until now, it's not (at least wasn't)
limited to online in CSS.
Reopening.

Seems you're running older wine version...
The 8008 error is process heap related and a solution was incorporated into
official wine tree in October 2007 after I posted my analysis.
Please upgrade your wine to at least 0.9.47 or better 0.9.49 (latest) and try
again.
Regards
