After typing "winecfg" in a Terminal window the "Wine Configuration" window opens but as soon as I click the audio tab the window quits without any feedback. I can't remember if Hearts of Iron has it, but Paradox games have notoriously been very broken by the horrible copy protection forced on them alongside the lame publisher intro movies. There also might be a way to skip the intro movies entirely, though I'm not sure how.
