It turns out that the edit boxes _are_ working, but they just display in a different place than they really are. You can select them with arrow keys or just clicking at the right place. But what you probably wanted to do was to run the version shipped with MDAC. To do that, you need to override both odbc32 and odbccp32 to be native (e.g. via winecfg, or via WINEOVERRIDEDLLS).
