Unfortunately, neither the above tests resolved the sound stuttering problem.
Additional information.
When the stuttering occurs, it sounds like the normal variety. Sound drops out
occasionally, then catches up. After a while, the stuttering increases to the
point where is sounds like a loop (like a skipping cd).
Closing the application at this time will result in a lockup. Killing Gw.exe in
another terminal gives the following (Attached) error:
*** glibc detected *** gw.exe: free(): invalid pointer: 0x7b226c98 ***

Does your Z: point to home drive?
Try to run:
wine "Z:\.wine\driver_c\Programme\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE"
Just interesting, what will be result?
I suspect WinWord checks the directory it lives in.

Summary: Settlers 3 does not run in fullscreen
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.31.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Keywords: regression
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-ddraw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: alex(a)thehandofagony.com
Somewhere between Wine 0.9.30 and 0.9.31, Settlers III stopped displaying in
full screen. Now it displays in a window instead, which it shouldn't, and so
the mouse clicked are not processed properly; when you want to click on
something, you have to have the bottom of the mouse over it, instead of the
top.
