I have done exxactly as Austin English 2007-07-01 15:11 was proposing, but the
error trace gives the last update error file.
So how do I get it working? The installer (InstallShield) does not work. After
manual install same problem, it does not work. Any ideas how to solve it?

Gil, this bug might be related (but i'm not sure), to bug #5024. Could you as a
last thing run the installer in wine, like so
'WINEDEBUG=+profile wine installer.exe', and attach console output here? Thanks

Please ignore that comment about GLX, turns out that was another bug in Wine (I
rolled back a couple of revisions and it was OK).

Once again:
I am running Mandriva 2000, with all the latest patches and kernel 2-6-17-14, as
stated in the first and second entries to this chain.
I installed wine fresh.
I ran it for the first time as my regular user, not from root. (Yes, I also ran
it from root; I uninstalled and reinstalled to run it as the regular user.)
I got the "Floating point exception" error and wine crashed.
There is no ~/.wine directory, undoubtedly because the program never ran far
enough to create it. The "cd /.wine" line was to show that the directory does
not exist.

Did you removed ~/.wine directory? And verified that is is gone?
I still don't see what exactly are you running? If you have 'cd
/home/gary/.wine' core dumping, you have much bigger problems in your system!
But they are not related to Wine.

Precisely the same thing happens when run as a user, only there is no "core
dumped" message.
