I've been testing around with hardware accelleration since the latest patches,
and they fixed issues with quite a few apps for me. The card dealing and other
animations in spider are now as fast as in windows, or without sound.
I was not able to reproduce the bug with 0.9.43, I think it was caused by
playing a sound too often, too fast repeated (buffer overflow?).
Since that has sped up so much, it won't come to a crash anymore.
I consider this as fixed.
(I still found a minor difference to native: It should have a sound when you
start to drag a card and one when you drop it again. In wine both sounds play
after you drop a card... Is this a bug? This is too ridiculous... Just like the
picture in spider's Info dialog only being painted if you trigger a redraw.. I
won't file bug reports for these)

Sorry, forgot to mention I tested with 0.9.43! But I remember that UT2004 used
to work the same way in 0.9.40.

No, the demo installs and runs fine (except for Bug 6971 and jerky, "hanging"
mouse movement while the rest of the game runs smoothly) as well as "real"
UT2004. I think he meant UT99 or so.

I tested with the installer from bug 8192. This is a regression caused by:
commit abecd9e393925e008449a80ec14682790b29042c
Author: Matt Finnicum <mattfinn(a)gmail.com>

riched20: Rewrite of scrolling and some redrawing code.
Replaces duplicated scrolling code with re-usable functions.
Removes excessive boundary checking on scroll code, since that's done
in the scrollbar control anyways.
Properly separates repaint calls based on what has changed.
Send EN_UPDATE and EN_CHANGE at the right places.
Only call EnsureVisible on changes, not all repaints.

Summary: Quicken 2002: Cannot install due to unhandled page fault
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: website-bugs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jrstrong(a)yahoo.com
Created an attachment (id=7556)

Unhandled page fault stack trace
OS: Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn
Wine: 0.9.43 (started with 0.9.42)
I have tried to install Quicken 2002 many times, but have had no luck. I
receive the following exception every time I try to launch the installer:
Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address (nil) (thread
000c)
See the attached text file for full trace information. This exception occurs
immediately after launching 'wine setup', 'wine
c:\\quickeninst\\disk1\\setup.exe', and from the CD.
I installed Wine from the package manager. I have completely removed Wine as
well as the .wine directory. Attempts to reinstall give me the same unhandled
page fault. This machine is a brand new Ubuntu installation. I have tried
installing from the CD as well as a local directory with all the disk images
separated into folders. I have spent many hours over the past several days
searching through pages of how-tos and bug reports, but have not found anything
similar. Based on some of these pages, I got the impression that IE needed to
be installed. After not finding IE information through winehq, I installed
ies4linux. Quicken still returned the unhandled page fault. I have tried
winecfg to change the windows version to xp and 98.
Since I am not an expert Wine user, it is possible that Wine is not configured
correctly. However, from all the how-tos and forums, I can't find anything
that could be a problem. I have left the severity as major since it could be
my configuration.

Yes, there has been a big improvement. I think we can half-close the bug :-)
I showed Photoshop CS startup to a guy from Adobe,
and he didn't seem to think it was all that bad.
Heck, maybe that's good enough, then...
