Summary: Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.0 Pref launcher no longer
works
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.nuance.com
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: appdb-unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: susancragin(a)earthlink.net
I am using Ubuntu's Hardy Heron Studio version. My computer is an Acer Ferrari
64-bit running 32-bit libs.
wine-0.9.53-289-g71f81bf
The program still installs correctly and trains, but I can't get it to run
because the launcher no longer loads properly.
I thought it was a Ubuntu metacity problem but have tried icewm. Have also
installed Skype for Linux, and that program icon appears correctly when the
program is running.
I think the error message is as follows.
Window Manager Warning: Invalid WM_TRANSIENT_FOR window 0x2e00003 specified for
0x2e00005 (DragonBar)

Still happens on Wine 0.9.54 but works bit "better" now I hear about 0.5-1.0
seconds of first part of the music on infinite loop + the normal errors.

OK, still the black screen thing still remains like it has happened from the
point where regression happened.

Regression caused two problems... white screen but only in nVidia cards(was
fixed later Wine versions) and black screen(still happened in Wine 0.9.37)...
that black screen was still there when I tested it last time(on Wine 0.9.37) so
it's half-fixed.
I will try this again in this weekend hopefully.

Summary: Wine makes possible for windows virus to work?
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wineserver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tsalacinski(a)gmail.com
I know that it's too early to say this, but when Wine started to support Run
and RunOnce registry entries, I have few Windows worms on my computer (I've
been using ies4linux).
Is this possible, that when for example virus developer will think about
supporting Linux he will steal data? I think, yes.
As we know, wine have access to the whole drive (most users have / configured
as Z:\). If we have a virus installed in Run in the registry, and the virus
will look for every drive in the system (especially for Z:\) it can try to
detect if there is any Z:\home\[user] directory and it can steal data from it.
Virus devs can even try to compile their viruses with libwine to check if they
will work on Linux.

Incidentally, are icons for winemine, etc. supposed to be very simplistic (and
have that weird green background)?
I would think they could be made to look more interesting.
