Hello,
--- quote ---
The msi bugs are fixed, so this needs to be retested. I don't think the issue
in comment #2 is fixed, so my guess is the component should be shell32 now.
--- quote ---
Correct. ShellExecute search order/path expansion is the blocker here.
I have already provided all the necessary information for a fix.
Someone just needs to pick it up.
The previous "hurray" stories regarding VS.NET 2005 are a bit misleading.
This bug was originally aimed at Version 7.0 (VS.NET 2002) and 7.1 (VS.NET
2003).
The remaining issue(s) differ from later VS.NET versions.
Regards

Similar crashes are still happening in Shockwave with wine 0.9.53, Firefox
2.0.0.12 and Shockwave 10.3. I will attach backtrace in a moment.

For the simplest test case yet:
$ sudo mnt -o loop En_vs_2005_Pro_90_Trial.img /mnt/cdrom
$ cd /tmp
$ mkdir net && cd net
$ cabextract /mnt/cdrom/vs/wcu/dotNetFramework/dotnetfx.exe
$ wine install.exe
At this point, the remaining issue looks like bug 3972. The msi bugs in this
report have been fixed, so I think we should close this as fixed.
