Linux hardy 2.6.24-18-generic #1 SMP Wed May 28 20:27:26 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux
Using Wine 1.0 provided by PlayOnLinux (http://www.playonlinux.com/en/)
Using GNOME and Nautilus.
I'm using MS Word of Office XP installed via CrossOver.
$export WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.cxoffice/dotwine
$export PATH=$HOME/PlayOnLinux/WineVersions/1.0.0/usr/bin:$PATH
$export $export
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$HOME/PlayOnLinux/WineVersions/1.0.0/usr/lib:$HOME/PlayOnLinux/WineVersions/1.0.0/usr/lib/wine:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
then started WINWORD.EXE
The problem occur when I drag and drop a GIF image from Nautilus to a .doc
document inside WINWORD.EXE
It try to import a text of the binary file and not the image.
This is one of the annoyance that cannot help me to port windows users to
linux.

Summary: empty screenshot thumbnail in load game dialog
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.57.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hoehle(a)users.sourceforge.net
Hi,
some games display, in their "Load Saved Game" dialog, a list of
thumbnails of screenshots taken at the time of "Save Game". For some
games, these screenshots are all blank (black).
This affects Syberia 2, among others.
I inspected the Syberia2 save game files. It contains, beside a few
strings, thousands of occurrences of the sequence 00 00 00 FF. This
made me believe that the application does not manage to create
the screenshot thumbnail during save, saves black pictures and
displays those in the load dialog. I.e. not Load is broken, Save is.
I replaced some of these 00 with FF and saw white lines appear in the Load
dialog, confirming this supposition.
I'm using wine 0.9.57 on Ubuntu Dapper & Gutsy, compiled myself. I don't know
whether the problem can be caused by a missing *-dev.deb package on my side
(e.g. configure reports no XComposite nor gphoto headers).
The bug has been mentioned by the OP of the 0.9.44 test result of Syberia2.
Regards,

Where can I get the patch ? Can I test it ?
(I've looking at mailing lists, but it seems I'm blind.)

Thanks.

Using the latest "intel" driver with Ubuntu Hardy, version 2.2.1.
It's an integrated chipset on my laptop (should I not expect this to work?)
Thanks again :-)

I'm trying to get the tests into git.
The tests are fairly long and complex so I've broken it up into a patch series.
Can people who are interested help me test this.
The first patch is here:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-devel/2008-June/066811.html
I think I also have a strategy for proper implementation.

Ok thank you for clarification. Indeed that should work. I'm guessing something
in Wine doesn't "receive" focus back.

A screenshot of the huge wine window and the fonts in notepad alongside my
normal desktop items
I had the latest version of wine from the ubuntu repository and it worked fine
under feisty
When I formatted my laptop and installed ubuntu hardy, wine by default starts
up with massive fonts. I tried to fiddle with the configuration files, but it
doesn't seem to make any difference (and the files get changed back
automatically as soon as the configuration app is run). As a result, I can only
see the top half of this massive window, even on my maximum resolution
(1920x1200), and I cannot configure wine properly.
The same fonts are used in notepad.
Also, for some reason, when I choose fonts in notepad, the fonts aren't
displayed properly ... there's gibberrish instead.
I couldn't find anybody else having the same problem on google or winehq, but
given that this occurred on a fresh install with default settings, I'm sure
others may experience this.
I'd be grateful for any help on this.

Wine Error LIg
Internet Explorer flickers very badly with flash ads and appears to redraw the
entire screen on every mouse click.
This was installed with PlayOnLinux which uses IE4Linux.
The error item
fixme:hook:IsWinEventHookInstalled (32773)-stub!
comes up every mouseclick. This may or may not be the cause, as it might do
multiple things on a mouseclick.
The website I visited to test was investors.com which uses a ActiveX graphing
system. The error appears to occur with or without the ActiveX plugin.
