Summary: Gizmo5: Does not install from clean .wine directory
due to lack of Windows OS version (needs XP/2000 or
above)
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.22
Platform: PC
URL: http://gizmo5.com/pc/download/#gizmo31
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P3
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: novakyu(a)novakyu.net
When installing the latest version of Gizmo (4.0.5) with fresh .wine directory,
the install fails because no OS version is specified in system.reg by default
(a dialog saying that XP/2000 or above is required shows up before installer
quits), even though when winecfg is run, it does have Windows XP selected (but
nothing in the system.reg indicates that).
If the version is changed to 2000 then Gizmo installs fine. If the version is
changed *back* to XP (so that OS version specification is in system.reg), Gizmo
again installs fine.

Yes it is still an issue. It is the same problem as before.
I just tested with the latest version:
>git-describe
wine-1.1.22-219-gfbb43c4

Yes, this is still issue (tested with wine-1.1.22). Now I'm trying to compile
wine with this patch: http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=9341, I will
report if this helps.

MapleStory works under VirtualBox (Windows XP) and with Wined3d wrapper.
So it will probably work in Wine too. We just need to get rid of evil malware
known as GameGuard.

If the original bug is fixed, then this should be closed.
If there are further bugs, then new bug reports should be opened.
Dumping all the problems in one bug leads nowhere... fast.

I reread whole bug report and doesn't know what is original bug problem (i find
this report little confusing), if it is only dialog with missing CD in drive,
then it is fixed and work well, but still game contain glitches described
above.
